About a year or more ago, this review would’ve been very different. This restaurant owned the greatest charbroiled burger in the area by FAR. Dukes, cozy, Charlie’s, Angelo’s, luckys, didn’t ever compare. Not even close. But things have changed. It saddens me to write this review but I had to say goodbye to the Apollo Burger I once knew. The people here that are claiming to have been coming for years have to be lying because or else they would’ve noticed that this isn’t the same restaurant. The menu has completely changed, it’s not the same cooks in the kitchen (that’s how often I would go, I knew the cooks), their FAMOUS ranch has a completely different taste, the bacon cheeseburger doesn’t taste the same, now they serve chips and salsa??? (Wasn’t a thing), for some reason there’s a Mexican menu, and why is there potato chip bags for sale on the counter?? and I don’t see the lady that always always took our orders at the front. I don’t know if there was a change in ownership but bring back the original recipe for the bacon cheeseburger, bring back the original ranch bc there’s no other ranch like it. The added menu items and the extra stuff is negatively impacting the quality of their famous bacon cheeseburger. I was basically born into this restaurant, it was tradition, every Sunday.. and I haven’t been able to go back. It’s terrible. OH, and they changed the ice to the huge pieces (another terrible move) it used to be crushed ice. Original owner, if you read this, please buy the restaurant back. They’ve ruined the greatest cheeseburger of all time. Or email me, I need the ranch...
Read moreApollo Burgers in Garden Grove is one of those local gems that’s been serving up the same great quality for many, many years. Every time I stop by, I’m reminded why this place has stood the test of time.
My go-to is the Bacon Cheeseburger special—comes with fries and a drink—and it never disappoints. The burger is juicy, flavorful, and stacked just right. The fries are always crispy and fresh, making it a perfect combo meal that hits the spot every time.
What really makes Apollo special, though, is the people. The customer service is consistently friendly and welcoming, and on my last visit, I was happy to see that the same owner and cook are still there, just like they've been for as long as I can remember. There’s something comforting about knowing the folks behind the counter are the same ones who've been serving the community for years.
If you’re ever in the area and craving a solid, no-frills, delicious burger, Apollo is the place. Local flavor, local heart, and...
Read more2nd visit and am so impressed. Don't fire this chef he's great. And owner, (I think, or mgr?), is super nice I feel like I'm at the Ritz. Prices are way more reasonable than other joints with Apollo having better food, anyway.
1st visit, I noticed a lot of obvious locals frequented this place... that's good. The Bacon Cheesebrgr Meal was so so so good-- just a notch above the norm. Couldn't wait to try the place again.
2nd visit the French Toast meal was absolutely perfect. Bacon perfect- crisp but not hard. The Scrambled egg was in larger chunks and soft- perfect. And my Fave, French Toast, had a nice coating - soaked THRU the bread -(as it should be), lots of powder sugar- Absolutely perfect. Great coffee and he gave me a bonus plate of chips and yummy salsa! The spice paired well with those perfect eggs.
This place will def be getting more of my business and I highly recommend to anyone, including visitors as it's just down the street from...
