This was our first time staying in Anaheim for a family vacation and we wanted to stay at a hotel near the Disney parks off property. We ended up choosing the Hampton Inn Garden Grove because it was still relatively close to where we wanted to be.
My pros: Daily breakfast is included with your stay. This included nice omelettes, make your own waffles (flavors changed daily with whip cream and syrups), cereal, oatmeal, sausage, pastries and toast or bagels. Kitchen staff were wonderful at keeping the dining and kitchen area constantly tidy and clean after each person used the stations. Lobby was always kept clean and decor was modern. They had it decorated for Halloween, which the kids loved. Also a few Disney themed photos both in lobby and your room. Front desk was friendly and greeted us daily upon our return. They also checked us in quickly, after our long day of flying we really appreciated this! Location. It was close to Target and a few restaurant options (next door to Joe's Italian Ice, Bucca Di Beppo, Outback, Raising Canes etc.) ART bus stop is in the parking lot if you don't have a car. 15 minute walk to Disney parking lot Room included bar fridge and microwave, great to keep a few groceries, leftovers and drinks of your own during your stay.
My cons: Our room was in rough shape...It is really overdue for a renovation. The photos online showed it in decent shape and clean. In person, the bathroom was very beat up. Despite it being cleaned, the marks made it seem otherwise. The baseboards were very uneven and cut so poorly that you could tell was replaced after the fact. Shower ceiling was bubbled and discolored with possible mold forming. The bath tiles had many black marks or cracks. The paint on the door was scuffed. The shower was also marked up on the floor and walls, which made it appear dirty but it was missing parts of white coating. Bathroom handle was completely missing. The room carpet felt dirty. I'm surprised there's hotel rooms still with carpet for sanitary reasons and bedbugs. Housekeeping came every 2nd day to tidy the room. A few times food or plates and random linens were left behind. It made it seemed like the cleaning was rushed. Bed duvet cover looked yellowed next to the white bed sheets. We immediately folded it off the bed. Desk chair was also very faded or dirty. No in-room safe? Our showers were lukewarm and never hot during the evenings. Maintenance was sent up to our room to tell us it felt fine. Then minutes after they left, suddenly the water was hot again. We faced the pool, so beware it can become really loud in the evenings. We brought our sound machine to block the noise. On our last day, I woke up to an extremely itchy bug bite/rash on my leg (1 inch). It was definitely during the night that I got it. While we didn't find any bedbugs, it immediately made me panic because I have a major fear of bringing bedbugs home with me.
We will probably not return to this hotel when we return to Anaheim due to the room's condition and overall experience with it. Staff was awesome, not anything they did. I just feel like we could have a nicer, clean...
Read moreWhere to begin? we arrived early and said weâd be ok waiting but she said sheâd get us a room. Ended up with room 202 that had no tub. Didnât think much of it until we needed a tub rooms are small, thereâs only 3 of us but we were constantly bumping and tripping over eachother the bathroom has a sliding door thatâs not hanging properly and the shower has a glass door. Very little privacy the hotel had a funky smell the entire time. Our room had the worst smell. Couldnt figure out what it was. Asking for cleaning made it worse. It smelled like they used an old moldy sour rag to clean it rooms are outdated. Our room had signs of water damage, peeling paint, just rough around the edges. But beds are comfortable. I will say, itâs a pretty quiet hotel. Hardly heard anyone but maybe because no one stays there??? we stayed 10 days and on day 5 I finally had enough and asked them to please give us fresh bedding (theyâd made beds but hadnât replaced bedding). Came back from a day at the parks and again they made the beds but no fresh bedding (I could tell because there was a stain on the blanket - same stain was there for 10 days!!! No new bedding in 10 days is gross!) I asked again and again the next day they made the bed but it was the same bedding! I had purchased mole skin as I had blisters from walking the parks. I know exactly where I put it on the counter but when we came back in the evening I couldnât find it. A thorough search and still couldnât find it. Either housekeeping threw it away or took it our toilet barely flushed. We repeatedly had to flush over and over to get it to go. Eventually it just stopped and we needed to get a plunger. After plunging it still didnât flush right. Shower was difficult to get hot water free breakfast was ok. Waffles were actually really good, decent coffee the pool is FREEZING. So much so that me and my husband couldnât enjoy it. Hot tub was ok, pool area was kind of dirty though ART transit would be nice if it ran more often. The art times posted were never right. Often times we had to wait for 2 bus loads of people before we could get on. Making rope drop impossible. Just Uber it staff was friendly, never had an issue with any of them business centre was closed, which is very odd. I had to ask to get access and she said she shouldnât be letting me in but she trusted me. Why is it closed?? I own 3 businesses and while I did bring my laptop I still needed to print important documents
Overall, it was just meh. I expected more being a good neighbour hotel with Disney. The smell in the room and the failure to provide clean bedding when asked twice, is what sealed the deal for me. We wonât be back...
Read moreI recently stayed here for 1 night to take my daughter to Disneyland for her 3rd birthday. I paid for a suite and was told of be on the top floor, when I arrived, at 3:10, check in was at 3:00, they put me on the second floor and said it was because they have the other rooms away already. When I got to my room I immediately started having issues with the Wi-Fi, none of my devices would connect. I was on the phone with the front desk and running to the lobby multiple times for help with the connection, they could not solve my problem either. They eventually connected me with their AT&T Wi-Fi provider to discuss the issue to which they then told me it was a hotel problem and not an issue with my devices. This whole situation lasted for at least 4 hours upon check in and was never situated. I got a room with a kitchen and the garbage disposal didnât work, the air wouldnât turn off or change temperature, none of the buttons worked. Later that night I had someone come knock on my door while I was in the bathroom. I ran out to answer but they had already left. I called front desk to see what the issue was and they said that they were coming to complain about noise and that because I didnât answer, they were going to just get security to come kick me out with no refund immediately. That made no sense to me as we only had the TVs on. The woman I spoke to on the phone insisted she could hear my music playing in the background while we were talking but again, it was my television. When security came they were nice and understood that the sounds were coming from my TV, which was still on, and not music. Al though they agreed to not kick us out, they insisted they were charging me a smoking fee because it smelled of marijuana. Mind you, the entire floor smelled like marijuana and there were about 15-20 people casually hanging out in the parking lot smoking all night. They never had any real proof or evidence that the smell was coming from my room because they never came in. And if they did bother to actually check they would see we didnât have anything we were not supposed to have in there. At about 4:35 in the morning I got a fraud alert to my credit card, apparently the hotel tried to charge me a $250 smoke free. They also sent me a receipt of my stay including the smoking fee. But after I left I received my final receipt through email and the smoking fee was removed. Not sure what that was about. Overall this was a terrible stay the staff was not helpful at all, there was one woman in particular very tall curly hair deeper voice, who seemed as if I was inconveniencing her and had no will to help. Only plus was the proximity of the hotel...
