I have always wanted to try their chorizo aji fries but I always came after their kitchen closed. I finally ordered it at around 9:40 on a Friday night and was so excited to try it. When I got it I was very disappointed because there was almost no chorizo and the chorizo that was there seemed like the leftovers on the grill (very stale, hard and small). I asked for more chorizo and the kitchen sprinkled a tiny bit more of the stale chorizo.. I don't know why they didn't just say that they had no more left..
I told one of the guys at the bar and he apologized and gave me cash back on the fries (he gave me $7 when the menu price was $8 not including tax) and a discount on my drink. I was a little annoyed at the whole situation and the incorrect refund amount, but i appreciated the service I received after the whole ordeal which is why I still gave this place 4 stars. The guys at the bar were very apologetic and friendly and made sure to attend to my requests for controllers and questions about the drinks, despite how busy it was.
One of the guys made an adult Capri sun and a kaijin (? Forgot the full name but it had the word kaijin in it i think) which were delicious! They were drinks he concocted so they won't be on the menu, but he sure knows his drinks and his customers! The capri sun was better than the peach vodka drink and the Bruce lee (lychee drink) I had. The kaijin was stronger and tasted like black licorice. The doctor strange was pretty strong as well. Out of the beers their blueberry one was the best. Highly recommended if you're not into IPAs. I would come here again, but would probably not order food too late since it seems the quality goes down and they run out of...
Read moreLocation - Located in the heart of Garden Grove in the historic Main st district. Lots of things to do here from shopping, antique shops, restaurants, bars, and lots of events.
Service - The staff and owners are hella cool and make you feel very welcome. One of the workers knew a friend if mines and gave me a hand shake as I walked in and made me feel as if I knew him. All the others are the same will spark up a conversation and make you feel at home.
Venue - Its a very unique place that reminds me of a place in Hawaii that has that gamer feel to it. This place is similar with a lot of comics stuff up and gaming systems setup to play or have competitions. The lighting and decor is very cool.
Prices - Very fair pricing on all drinks and the food menu.
Food - Was able to sample a few plates and definitely had a above the avg bar food taste to it.
Drinks - Great flavored signature drinks and also great pours on the others.
Parking - It wasn't hard to find any as they have a parking lot in back, but on a busy weekend I can see it get packed and make it hard to find some.
Crowd - You get a variety of crowds here, you dont have to be into the gaming or comics to fit in. I dont care much for either and was able to fit in and get along with many of the clients here enjoying a drink.
Overall the place is great and would highly recommend for people to check it out and will be back...
Read moreQuite possibly one of 2 of my favorite bars in all of SoCal it’s a place I can come to feel the vibe and have a good time on my own or invite others to join me and experience something that feels more than a bar, I’m not one for bar hopping or clubbing but when I tell you the staff, the food and the gaming culture that’s here makes me feel comfortable to be here and want to experience again and again
I can go on and on about the good and how it just hits yea it’s bar food but it’s good bar food and one you can enjoy with others and by yourself
I hate to draw comparisons to other locations in this review but when I wanna Nerd out in geek culture I go to Guildhall and when I wanna nerd out in gaming culture I go here both scratch the itch of not making me feel like a foreigner for my hobbies and I’m glad both Guildhall and Barcode have stood the test of COVID but also continue to make anyone who is looking for something more in a bar or a place to relax after a long day at work and talk about anything
Shoutouts to Alex you’re so cut out...
