Eggs Up Grill isn't your average breakfast joint. It's the neighborhood cheerleader in an apron, the friend who greets you with a fist bump and a bottomless coffee pot. It's where the sunshine streams through windows the size of pancakes, bouncing off orange booths and chrome stools until they land, warm and gooey, on your plate.
Forget about fluorescent lighting and laminated menus. This is a canvas of vibrant murals and chalkboard specials scrawled with seasonal delights. The air thrums with laughter and the clatter of silverware, like a symphony composed by hungry forks and contented sighs.
Now, the food. Oh, the food! It's not just eggs, though they do them oh-so-right. They're fluffy clouds cradling molten yolks, nestled in nests of crispy hash or buttery brioche. But Eggs Up Grill is a siren song for all those morning cravings. There are pancakes the size of frisbees, dripping with berries and syrup. Biscuits light as feathers, begging to be dunked in country gravy. And burgers that could cure any hangover, stacked with melty cheese and enough bacon to build a house (or at least a really satisfying breakfast sandwich).
But it's not just the food that makes Eggs Up Grill special. It's the people. The servers who remember your name and your usual order, who bring extra napkins without an eye roll, who crack jokes that make you snort your latte all over the table (they'll bring extra napkins for that too, don't worry). It's the chefs who take pride in every omelet, who sculpt pancakes into cartoon characters for the kids, who turn breakfast into a culinary performance.
So, yes, Eggs Up Grill is about eggs. But it's also about community, about laughter, about starting your day with a belly full of sunshine and a heart full of warmth. It's a place where strangers become friends over shared plates of biscuits and gravy, where the coffee flows like laughter, and where even the wait for a table feels like a...
Read moreI wanted to hold off my review until our second visit to the Garner location, which was disappointing. Our first visit we ordered the Pumpkin Cream pancakes. They were excellent. The pancakes were big, the pumpkin cream in between each pancake was great as well. The service was also excellent.
Our most recent visit, the hostess was not very cordial, and didn't smile. We sat for over 5 minutes before we asked for our server. 5 minutes later our server took our drink order, but didn't clarify if we wanted decaf, regular or dark roast coffee. We ordered an omelette with cheese and a meat and the Caramel Apple Pancakes. Well, the omelette was small, barely any cheese but had a lot of meat. Now the pancakes. They forgot the caramel sauce, the powdered sugar and it had only a few apple slices. The pancakes were smaller than the ones we ordered during our previous visit. The grits were good.
I saw a video from a review from 11 months ago, and the Caramel Apple pancakes looked great, and looked not at all like what we were served.
Our server was very frustrated, and rightfully so. He came back with the caramel sauce for us, and the patrons at the table across from us were not happy since it appeared the kitchen messed up at least two of their orders.
I heard one of the employee's say to the people at that table it has been a long day.
For the prices people pay at Eggs Up, the food and portions needs to improve and be consistent. I don't know why the place is so crowded on the weekends. It was not busy either time we went, and it seemed the kitchen staff couldn't handle it. And the servers had to take the brunt from the mistakes which they did not make.
So, we will not be visiting Eggs Up again. We'll stick with IHOP, Denny's, Golden Corral and the fabulous Angie's Restaurant. Money is tight, so if people are going to treat themselves and spend around $15 per person, the food and service needs to...
Read moreBeen wanting to try for a while but it was always a bit busy when I went. Sunday I decided to try again and noticed book ahead on Google. Did that, got confirmation text for 20-25 minutes with 9 parties waiting. Hadn't heard anything else so headed down there by 25 minutes. They were apparently having issues with it and so didn't have the booking. Ok, they were apologetic and said it would be 20-25 minutes but to wait outside the door as they would just stick their head out. Wait was what they said. Just wish we could have walked next door and waited for a text but oh well. Waitress took our order. The food was a while coming, over 30 minutes but they were super busy. I ordered shrimp and grits. Flavor was good. Medium poached eggs were very runny but not the end of the world. My disappointment was that it was barely warm. The slice of cheese wasn't even melted. I was surprised as I could see the pass through and things didn't seem to sit long. The toast with it was awesome. My brother's meal was good. Not hot either but warmer than mine. Tea was very good. Coffee fine. The waitress had said she'd be back by for refills but didn't. By the time we got our food we were both out. I asked the other waitress for a refill. Next time we saw the original waitress was after we were done eating and empty again. She did offer us to go cups. Nice environment, super busy. Good food but wish it had been warmer. Waitress could do better refilling drinks especially with long waits. She was very pleasant. I plan to try them again hopefully not...
