We went to Shady's for dinner so I'm reviewing it as a restaurant for perspective. Loved the old rustic wood beams and brick, great to see a historic building still being used. We chose Shady's based on their menu pic posted to Google maps (no menu on website), because my son wanted mac'n'cheese and BBQ is always a winner. However that menu was very outdated, no mac'n'cheese, much smaller menu with everything a la carte, no cohesive meals. That said their pork BBQ sandwich was good, but would have been much better with some actual sides instead of bagged chips (although I appreciate they do local NC Carolina Kettle chips). Beer and liquor selection looked great for a bar this size, the mixed drinks I saw go out looked well made.
Honestly to me this is not a BBQ restaurant and bar. It's more of a bar that happens to have some food with a BBQ option, which is reinforced with 5pm to late night hours and no lunch. Nothing wrong with that, seems like a good choice for a hangout bar, but I wouldn't go there for a meal.
Could be a misunderstanding on my part as their limited photos highlight BBQ food and not the bar. Might be a good idea to update photos and presentation, including a bar menu. Could be missing out on bar customers that think this is more of...
Read moreI moved here a few months before it opened. When it did, it had a very young staff but you could tell everyone was trying. Then it closed due to COVID. Fair. This is the second time I’ve been in after it’s reopened. I walked in and after 6 minutes sitting at the bar unattended I called their number. After calling twice a bartender appeared. Got my drink order no problem. Ordered a pulled pork sandwich. Bun was ice cold, meat was cold and definitely not fresh from that day. BARTENDER AGREED W ME BUT DIDNT OFFER ANYTHING BETTER. Look I know this is a “locals” bar but yeesh, just try 10% harder you know. Would not recommend currently unless you want COVID and cold food. I hope this gets better. I’d really like this to be my bar but...
Read moreCrazy experience. Is this place a front? We had drinks at Aristotles and wanted to get some food to eat. My husband walked over to order the food, with our toddler in tote, and they said they couldn't do the takeout order because they didn't have enough food and wouldn't have anything for the people who came in....
So my husband asked if they could just do the hotdog and Mac and cheese, and a couple sliders and got the same response. We were trying to support a new restaurant, only two other couples in there on a Saturday at 630pm. But dang....won't be back and can't recommend. I feel like they are a front for something, how can you not have enough food at 630 on...
