Completely disappointed and dissatisfied with this place. Walked in with a high expectation of trying good authentic Mexican food. To what it was for, it was nothing close to real Mexican food. I got the steak tacos which tasted like the meat was frozen and had a weird taste to it almost like no flavor and no seasoning. I couldn’t even finish the 3rd taco because I was that grossed out. My boyfriend had a burrito, which apparently you have to be careful with what kind of burrito you choose because they have a “Mexican burrito” and a regular burrito. (Didn’t know there was a difference) The Mexican burrito literally only had beans and the steak inside and was covered in what it tasted like marinara sauce with melted cheese. They gave him lettuce and tomato on the side…the whole point of a burrito is for everything to be inside of the flour tortilla!!!!! The two stars are only there because the only good things from here were the horchata, the piña colada, and their chips with guacamole. The servers were nice but seemed very rushed and confused with what food went with what table. I am Mexican and this was the most upset I have ever been walking out of a Mexican restaurant. I don’t know what’s happening in there but there’s gotta be some changes...
Read moreMy family and I went to this mexican resturant and we checked in and put our name on the list around 7:20. Then they said it would be around 25 min. I looked around and noticed 4 empty seats with no one in them. We went outside and sat down on the chairs below the restaurant. 1 hour later we were thought "why have we not gotten a text message that our table was ready?" So I thought they probably forgot about us. So we went up to find out how much longer we had to wait. When we were up there, he clearly forgot about us because we could tell by his facial expressions. When we got seated, our waitress did not come for around 15 min and there were about 10 other tables outside (we were outside). She took our orders and at this point, everyone around us was done eating. We got our food and it was really good! But it still took a lot of time to get our check. Another thing that was wrong was, my sister and I orderd avocado, specifically not guacamole. Once the food was ready, It came out and I saw guacamole. Once she gave us the check, she charged us for the avacado that we never got and never appoligized for the forgetful ness or the extra charge. The waitress did not even say, have a nice night...
Read moreThe food at el molcajete is wonderful. I recently went on a trip to mexico with my girlfriend and after coming back and coming here we both agreed that the food here was equal to if not better than some of the food we had on resort. However, when we first sat down we were asked if we wanted chips and guac without even having opened and looked at the menu. Thinking this was an offer akin to the complimentary chips and salsa at Chili’s we accepted the offer to lately fond out it cost 8 dollars. I felt we should have been told about this beforehand as the tactic was rather sneaky and undeehanded. After mentioning it to the staff with no response i watched them do the same to an unsuspecting table of four that was sat directly behind us. Wonderful food and quick service. Was a shame to see the experience marred by such a easily fixable issue the staff didn’t see as necessary to amend. All the had to do was tell the customer the price of the guac or allow the customer time to look at the menu beforehand. I didn’t ask for it free of charge but i knew that others wouldn’t be as...
