My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Livia Italian Eatery in Geneva, Illinois, and it turned out to be an exceptional culinary experience from start to finish.
To kick off the evening, we decided to explore their drink menu, opting for the wine on tap and sampling their old fashioned signature drinks. The wine was a delightful surprise, boasting a rich flavor that complemented our meal perfectly. The old fashioned cocktails were expertly crafted, striking the ideal balance of sweetness and strength. A great start to our dining adventure!
Moving on to the appetizers, we indulged in a trio of culinary delights: lobster bisque soup, Tuscan shrimp, and eggplant with garlic bread. Each dish was a masterpiece in its own right. The lobster bisque was velvety and rich, the Tuscan shrimp burst with vibrant flavors, and the eggplant with garlic bread was a sublime fusion of textures and tastes. It was undeniably one of the best appetizer experiences we've ever had.
For the main course, I opted for the Lobster Diavolo, and my wife chose the Filet Mignon. The lobster was a standout, cooked to perfection and served with a tantalizing sauce that enhanced its natural sweetness. The Filet Mignon was tender, succulent, and grilled to our exact specifications. Livia's commitment to culinary excellence was evident in every bite.
However, the true star of the show was the dessert. We concluded our meal with the Tiramisu, and without exaggeration, it was the best we've ever had. The layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and velvety mascarpone were a heavenly combination. The balance of flavors and the delicate texture made it an unforgettable conclusion to a fantastic meal.
The atmosphere at Livia Italian Eatery was warm and inviting, and the attentive staff added to the overall positive experience. From the impeccable appetizers to the mouthwatering main courses and the divine tiramisu, Livia Italian Eatery exceeded our expectations on every front. This is undoubtedly a restaurant we will return to, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking an exceptional dining...
Read moreThis was my and my wife's first time at Livia, as we dined with another couple who have visited several times before. We reviewed the menu before going and had several items in mind to order. We arrived for our 6:15pm reservation, sat outside and were told that 2 menu items were not available, which included shrimp cocktail which was one item we were looking forward to. The Old Fashion drinks were very good, as a start. Upon receiving our dinner order, we found problems with 3 of the 4 plates. Lamb Chops were overly charred with cold potatoes and vegetables (sent back), a medium-rare fillet was medium-well (not sent back) and the Steak Oscar with the sauce on the side did not have crab meat (very odd as how it could have left the kitchen). We waited for our server to return and then noticed the fillet was well-done, not medium (sent back). The Manager came to the table, apologized, and we expressed our disappointment. She said she would correct this immediately. The replacement Lamb Chops dinner were fine, but my wife's Steak-Oscar came back to the table as a petite fillet (wrong order). The manager was told immediately, and she indicated that it was a communication problem. The Manager rushed back with a Steak-Oscar plate, only to find that the sauce covered everything (not on the side as originally ordered). We were very upset and had enough after 2 hours without my wife having dinner. My disappointment is that the kitchen (grill) erred by overcooking three of four dinners (my dinner was shrimp & crab patties), and that the manager did not follow through correctly on my wife's dinner, which should have been a focus and priority. In all fairness the server was friendly, attentive and caught in the middle of this. We then received our bill for our drinks, which was then fully comped. From my and my wife's perspective, there was a "fail" from both the kitchen and management, which is why we cannot recommend Livia...
Read moreThere is no vegan options besides a salad. Gluten free was only one option and not adaptable for vegan either. It's 2021, there should be atleast one item that you can adjust to a vegan option and/or gluten free. Even Chili's has options or items you can adjust, and it would be half the price. I literally spent almost $14. for some warm limp lettuce, a few pecans pieces, & 3 tiny slices of avocado. Tell me how this is fair? And charging that amount for something that cost literally less than $2. if I go to Whole Foods and buy these things organic 🤔. This restaurant is in an area that you would think these dietary needs would have atleast one or more options. It is a high traffic, tourist type, predominantly wealthy area. This was a complete waste of money and the service was exceptionally slow. Our lunch took over an hour and a half. There are plenty of other Italian restaurants in the immediate area that can accommodate for dietary restrictions and more affordable. The affordability wasn't the problem, it was what I received for the price I paid. Everyone else at the table ate their appetizer & their meals and left feeling satiated. I got to leave still hungry and irritated that I got to pay the same as everyone else that had full stomachs. And eating snacks in my purse to put some sustenance in my stomach. We as a family and our extended family we were there with, will not be back in the near future. There are other places in the area that can provide food to everyone in our party, more than...
