Nestled within the vibrant heart of Georgetown Square, Lamppost Coffee emerges as a beacon for coffee aficionados and remote workers alike. On a day that beckoned for exploration, my discovery of this local haunt offered a glimpse into the communal and caffeinated soul of the city. Here's my take on the experience:
Upon entering Lamppost Coffee, the lively buzz of conversation and the clatter of keyboards immediately enveloped me. The café's atmosphere, charged with the energy of a young and casual crowd, presented a snapshot of modern café culture at its finest. It was apparent that this was a favored spot for both work and leisure, with patrons engrossed in their laptops or engaged in lively discussions, all the while savoring their coffee and pastries.
Compelled by the array of choices, I indulged in an Espresso Milkshake and a Hot Mocha. The Espresso Milkshake was a revelation—a perfect fusion of coffee's robust essence with the indulgent sweetness and coolness of a classic milkshake. It served not only as a delightful pick-me-up but also as a testament to Lamppost Coffee's inventive approach to coffee.
The Hot Mocha, on the other hand, was a harmonious blend of rich chocolate and espresso, balanced with just the right touch of sweetness. It encapsulated the comforting warmth of a traditional mocha, elevating it with a depth of flavor that beckoned the taste buds for more.
Although my experience did not extend to the pastries, the sheer number of patrons enjoying them alongside their coffees hinted at their quality. The sight of flaky, buttery pastries and the occasional waft of baked goods were enough to pique my curiosity for a future visit.
In conclusion, Lamppost Coffee stands out not just for its exceptional coffee but also for the ambiance it cultivates—a space where creativity, community, and caffeine converge. Whether you're seeking a serene spot to work, a cozy corner for conversation, or simply a top-notch coffee experience, Lamppost Coffee promises and delivers on all fronts. As for the pastries, they remain a tantalizing mystery, but one I'm eager to explore upon...
Read moreOverall I enjoy taking my family here but today I felt pretty disrespected. I think maybe a large takeout order came in right before we arrived and the baristas were a little overwhelmed. I was with my three year old and waited in line for a while and they weren't acknowledging the customers waiting to order for quite some time. They then took the order in front of me and then my order and almost immediately that fulfilled the order of the person directly in front of me within a few minutes. I was waiting there with my three year old for quite some time (those with kids know how it is!) and finally just asked if I could have my bagel so that I could go sit down as they were clearly busy making a very large order that wasn't mine. The female barista was clearly very annoyed at me asking her to just grab a simple bagel that I had paid for so that we could go sit down and wait for however long it took the coffee to be ready. I felt so disrespected as a customer there with a child and like even a small amount of communication with me would have made up for it. I understand take-out orders happen and that it can get overwhelming but there are also customers on sight in the cafe who deserve some communication and respect for spending your money there AND tipping. I don't expect special treatment because I came in with a small kid but a simple, "sorry, we are really busy with this other order, yours will just take a little bit longer than normal" would be really nice. Also, quickly grabbing a bagel for a customer who is standing right in front of you with a small kid while you make a dozen coffees for people who aren't even there seems like a completely reasonable request. I just don't think I'll go back because I feel so disrespected. I also just don't want to wait 15 minutes with a small kid for a damn bagel. Simple communication is helpful. I would have gladly left for a little bit and walked around while they fulfilled that...
Read moreMy original 1-star post is below. They since made masks optional, so that complaint is only for the insane Age of Masks. So I'm awarding 3 stars for decent coffee and a limited menu. I prefer Just Love Coffee (and Star Coffee in RR before Lamppost took over that location). Products are OK, but y'all gotta lose the mask requirement. I was told yesterday that you "can't serve anyone who is not wearing a mask." As I looked around and saw NONE of the customers wearing masks, I thought to myself "Can't, or won't?" I didn't make a scene, or use logic to explain how sitting doesn't make one "more safe" than standing. Likewise, holding a latte doesn't make one "more safe." I mean, if your coffee sterilizes your customers, just how hot is that coffee? LOL There was literally NO DIFFERENCE between me and any other unmasked person there except some of them were mid-sip or mid-bite...and that they walked in with a mask only to take it off seconds later, and I just skipped the mask altogether. Other business owners are not living in fear and are allowing customers to make their own choices, and those are the places I will spend my money. My life is normal now, and you're not part of it, until you return...
