District Six — Restaurant in Georgetown

I recently visited District Six with high hopes of enjoying a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, my visit turned out to be a disappointing one due to the terrible service I received. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that the staff's priorities were not focused on attending to customers.

Upon entering the restaurant, I sat at the table for a good ten minutes before being greeted by any member of the staff. It was an incredibly frustrating experience, and it seemed like the servers were more preoccupied with their own personal activities rather than tending to the needs of the customers. I observed several of them gossiping amongst themselves, doing their make-up, and even casually sipping on iced coffee while neglecting their duties.

This lack of attentiveness and professionalism left a sour taste in my mouth and greatly affected my overall dining experience. It's disheartening when the staff's lack of concern for customers becomes so apparent. In a restaurant setting, customers expect to be promptly greeted and attended to, as it sets the tone for the rest of their visit.

Aside from the poor service, the actual quality of the food and ambiance of District Six was acceptable. The menu had a decent variety of options, and the atmosphere was pleasant enough. However, these positive aspects were overshadowed by the glaring negligence of the servers. I sincerely hope that District Six takes this review constructively and makes the necessary improvements to enhance their service quality. I realllllly want to love District 6, it is such a great location and cute decor, but unfortunately the food and service are so subpar. The food is SOMETIMES good, it is very hit or miss though. And the service is pretty consistently terrible. I love the frozens, and very often will order one and see it sitting on the bar for 5+ minutes while my server is on their phone or flirting with another server. Not the end of the world, but a little annoying.

The last time I was there was kind of my last straw. I ordered a frozen and when I went to pick it up to take my first drink the glass broke in my hand. 2/3 of the glass crashed to the table and I was left holding the remaining 1/3. I mean I do pilates, but I am not like crush a glass with my bare hand hulk strong... there was clearly an existing crack or they put the frozen drink in a glass still hot from being washed. The server asked if I wanted another, which yes, I didnt even have one sip of the first. I was disappointed in the whole ordeal, he acted like I put him out when it was clearly faulty glassware. I was shocked when the bill came and he had charged me for TWO frozens, when again, the issue was clearly the glass.

I honestly cant even blame some poor kid for being kind of bad at their job, its ultimately the management and owners that need to step up and do...

A friend recommended this place to us and we finally tried it today. Our only regret, is that we didn't come sooner.

My daughter had the grilled cheese which they brought out early. It was really good for a run of the mi grilled cheese.

My husband and I started with the street corn queso. The flavors combine perfectly with just the right amount of spice.

I had the garden salad with grilled chicken, and the 512 Pecan Porter Honey Mustard dressing. The salad was fresh and crisp, the chicken was grilled to perfection. The dressing made the salad amazing, the depth of the flavor, sweet, with a bit of spice and a small taste of the hops put this basic salad over the top.

My husband had the fried Nashville chicken sandwich. Perfect combination of spicy paired with bread and butter pickles. The sandwich was huge, and the flavor was endless.

The service was phenomenal, our server spent extra time with us and our kiddo. Which means a lot to this Mama.

The food is why you come, the beer list and atmosphere is why you stay and hang out a while. Enjoy!
