If I could give this place -10 stars, I absolutely would. Giving them even 1 star is generous for what they truly deserve.
We were looking for a nice spot to enjoy some ice cream on a family Sunday night. I found this location nearby and decided to try it since the photos made the ice cream look great. I went with my husband, our 6-month-old baby, and my mom.
From the moment we walked in, the experience was terrible. I went inside first to check out the flavors and place the order for myself and my mom. I kindly mentioned to the girl behind the counter that it was our first time visiting, and she immediately responded with a hostile, unfriendly attitude. Despite this, I placed my order. My husband went in after me to place his, and he came back saying the same girl didn’t even ask what flavors he wanted in his banana split — she just made it however she wanted.
When our order was brought out to the patio, everything was already nearly melted. On top of that, my ice cream had the wrong flavors. I went back inside to let her know, and she got visibly annoyed. She grabbed the wrong scoop with her hand, yanked it out of the cone, threw it in the trash, and added a different flavor on top all with a horrible attitude, as if I wasn’t even a paying customer. She then told me that “ she had to close the order because I took too long to decided.”
I asked, “Why are you being so rude?” and then followed up by asking who the manager was. To my shock, she said she was the manager. I told her that if she’s the manager, she seriously needs to work on her customer service and attitude and if she can’t, someone else should take her place.
People who are this disrespectful and emotionally unfit should not be in a management position. They’re toxic and damaging to any business. If this is the example being set by the manager, I can only imagine how the rest of the staff feels working there.
Hands down the worst experience we’ve had on a family outing. Do yourself a favor skip this place and go to McDonald’s for ice cream instead. At least there, you’ll get treated with basic respect and won’t waste your money on melted ice cream and...
Read moreThe Yard has some very creative options for milkshakes and sundaes... one of my son's got the Ultra Cookies N Cream milkshake, the other got a Blue Vanilla Milkshake without the jar, and I got the Salted Carmel Cheesecake. The Blue Vanilla was "mid" according to my 14 year old... he rates most fast food shakes higher than what he got. My oldest rated his Cookies and Cream concoction as one of the best he has ever had... high praise from him as he usually has very discerning taste. Because my oldest was so excited about what he got, I talked myself into keeping my head down and saying nothing. The cheesecake and whip cream on top of the shake were pretty good... my first spoonful of the milkshake tasted like sour cream or spoiled milk... a taste that came back up several times a bit later. I was certain they must have used sour cream or spoiled milk after the number of times I burped up that flavor. I mixed it really well and grabbed some of the whip cream that had escaped into the outer cup and pulled up some caramel and candies from the bottom of the shake and the sour cream taste was forgotten... until later. I had no other milk products in the previous week... so what I tasted and almost completely regurgitated was whatever was added to the milkshake that did not belong there. 2 jars and 1 normal size plain milkshake and we were out $51 and some change with tip. Not terrible for the best my kids ever had... but also not great for "mid" and "I nearly threw up from the spoiled milk used in my shake." Overall, I would say a 3 star is fair. The service was also hard to pin down... we got a lot of feedback from the shake-makers and she seemed genuinely happy to help us, but we also got a heavy dose of opinion and disdain for daring to ask if they could make the Birthday Cake without the sprinkles... "get something else if you don't like sprinkles". OK... well, if it is my oldest birthday and he asks to come back, we may. If he doesn't mention "The Yard" I won't either... hard pass because the cost is so high and you served me spoiled milk...

Back story: We came in ready to be helped and began waiting for one of the 4 girls huddled around the register doing absolutely nothing but looking at us to help us out. 3 of them seem sweet (maybe scared) and one was glaring at us. I thought it was kind of weird but there’s a sign that says to place our order at the register. We came by last week and were still assisted well before the register but that’s neither here nor there. So I walk towards the register and ask to try a flavor. It wasn’t until I moved all the way to the register that Gigi actually acknowledged me.
Fine! I guess this is a lesson on obeying signs. Got it! I ask Gigi if I can try a flavor. She says “Yeah, they’ll help you.” So one of the 3 girls comes to help us out. Anna B. was very sweet and had great recommendations. We tried some flavors and I walked to the register to place our orders. We told them our orders and then one of the other girls went to get it for us. As she’s scooping the ice cream I ask for 2 toppings.
Gigi snapped her fingers at her coworker like she was trying to get by the attention of a wild animal and she follows it up with “Aye, they want toppings too.” Which was COMPLETELY uncalled for because the toppings aren’t mixed into the ice cream so she could have waited 7 seconds and told her after she scooped the ice cream.
It felt like she was on a power trip (seemed like she had some level of authority) and the other 3 were so quiet and looked mildly uncomfortable. If she acts like this in front of customers, I’d hate to see how she treats them when...
