We ate lunch on a Saturday afternoon. My wife ordered the beef kabobs over rice. I ordered the beef shawarma with hummus and tabbouleh salad. After ordering I noticed there was no beef on the spit, there was gyro on one and the other one and empty. My shawarma came first; we looked at each other and my wife said “my expectations of this place just dropped !” and I agreed. My shawarma looked like microwaved leftovers from the night before, it was wet and soggy and salty as can be. My wife beef kebabs came out a couple minutes after. The old man dropped the plate off and we never saw him again. He never came back to check on us or especially ask how the food was. The beef kebabs were perfectly cooked and tasted fresh off the grill. The rice was terrible- I would have complained if we had seen him again!
I just pictured in my head that my shawarma was the old end piece from the empty spit and was refrigerated overnight and then reheated in the microwave when I ordered it. They didn’t even crisp it up on the grill. It was the worst.
I would not order anything that I didn’t see cooking on the spit again. The place was dirty and all the tables and chairs wobbled.
I doubt I would be craving this place again and offer for you to think twice before eating there because of all the good food...
Read moreThe food is decent and flavorful considering other Mediterranean restaurants within the same vicinity. However, the lack of customer service is uncompromising when spending your money in an establishment that doesn't value its customers; particularly the older gentleman. It's best to know when it is time to retire, especially when you loose patience with customers that are keeping your business afloat.
He is never willing to reasonably appease the customers unlike some of the other employees are. For instance, because I do not eat meat, I ask if I could just order a plate of rice, veggies, and a pint of tabboulleh salad and he said that they do not just sale a plate of rice although they sale rice, but told me I could pay the same price of a meat and rice dish, but not get the meat. You tell me, why would I pay the same price for something I am not getting?🤨 The least he could have said was I can take $2 off for the meat. That is just a sheer example of greed.
All in all, if the older gentleman would adjust his attitude to compliment the food and satisfy his customers he would have better reviews and...
Read moreThe food is phenomenal & the service is great. This was my second visit. It was recommended we try the pizza.
Being from NYC I'm very particular about my pizza and pleasing my pizza tastes has high standards 🤣🤣 That being said, the brick oven Greek pizza was slammin'! My friend and I ate the entire thing, which we never do it was truly yummy. We also ordered the Chicago-style gyro which, we knew was great from a previous trip. If you have a hearty appetite and enjoy the Mediterranean flavors, this dish is for you (get extra Tzatziki sauce on the side no matter what you order). Athens grill gives you lots of food, the portion size whether you dine in or take-out is comparable. We typically have enough for seconds. The baklava is the best I've had outside of some of my Greek friends & bakeries in NY. It's flaky, the filling is the perfect ratio to the size, they drizzle honey on it and it doesn't become soggy. If you love Mediterranean food and flavors this is a must visit.
P.S. We drive 45 mins one way to get this food at least once a month, if that gives...
