After reading multiple reviews about Frontera, we noted tales of a clean place, great service and above all, good food. So, Senorita Fab fiancée and I gave it a try for lunch!
It was not quite noon, so we were about the first diners to arrive. It's fun to have a big place to yourselves, for a little while, at least! We were immediately greeted and seated by Empress. She would be our server for this fiesta as well, as she brought out the chips and two types of salsa. The usual tomato salsa and this delicious brown salsa, that had the strong flavor of charred peppers. Now that was some excellent salsa!
We started out with an order of the Guacamole Dip. This turned out to be a large and wonderful order of guacamole with a side of sliced tomato, onion and green peppers. We alternated dipping our chips into salsa, then the guac. Muy Bueno!
My darling damsel order the Calexico. This is a smaller version of the chicken Chimichanga topped with cheese dip and served with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and rice. She enjoyed her meal, and I was thankful. I like when she's happy.
Me, I ordered the Carne Asada. What I did not expect was to have 2 separate plates of Mex Mex happiness! I got one large sizzling iron plate of grilled skirt steak sitting on top of a steamy mound of grilled onions and bell peppers, and some potatoes. I loved the potatoes, as they were real crispy on the outside, yet tender soft on the inside.
The second plate consisted of a nice portion of rice, refried beans and a little taco shell bowl of sour cream, guacamole and tomato.
I feel like a good judge of Mexican food, and I can definitely say Frontera hit high marks for their flavors, portions, quality, cleanliness and service! Our server, Empress even asked, without us prompting her, if we'd like some to-go drinks for the road, as we were heading back home to Florida. Quality service!
Now, here is a BIG HIT in my book! As we are digesting our delectable meal, I reach for the check. Nothing unusual and no surprises, until I look at the bottom of the check. We were impressed and blown away that in today's world a business would print their Mission Statement on their guest checks. Here's what it says:
OUR MISSION To Honor God In All We Do To Serve Others Humbly And Respectfully To Pursue Excellence In Everything We Do To Grow Profitably
Then, this was followed by:
OUR VALUES
HUMILITY - EXCELLENCE - RESPECT - SERVICE
I will absolutely patronize and put the good word out for a place that has that kind of integrity, AND great food!
Our hats, or sombrero's are off to Frontera...
Read moreI spent $116.00 on food. It consisted of 1 fajita, 1 order of fish tacos, and 4 drinks (2 a piece) We were told(by Tony) not to take any alcoholic beverages out the restaurant. We asked for to-go cups for our drinks. We finished our drinks and proceeded to take the to-go cups full of ice with us. We were then followed by Tony to our car and harassed. He took pictures of my car. He thought that we were sneaking beverages to our car and even called the police on us, which was outstanding, considering the fact that I just spent over $100 with them for literally 4 drinks and 2 meals. I will never go back to an establishment that make customers feel like they are doing something wrong when we never did anything. The food was not accommodating to the experience of being treated like a criminal and outcast for literally nothing. I even called him to tell him that we never took anything alcoholic off the premises but he continued to argue with me and tell me otherwise...do NOT eat here..they are racially profiling black people..I will never spend my money here again..the food was overpriced for the treatment I endured after spending hard earned money on an establishment that doesn't appreciate their customers. do not eat here..I'm only posting 1 star because they wouldn't allow a...
Read moreI've known Frontera for years and have recently been visiting more often due to coworkers. Located in a somewhat busy area of Stockbridge, Frontera brings some classic home styled Mexican food for a great price.
Lunch specials are great to order from if you don't know what to get for first time visits. There's also other combination plates that you can get that gives a variety of items. I've tried even the 'Frontera' burger, which got some looks for ordering a burger instead of the alternatives. But hey, they make a pretty good burger. Most plates come with sides of either rice and/or beans. Overall, haven't had a bad experience when it comes to food quality.
Customer service comes with very pleasant attitudes from all forms of staff here. Everyone is friendly and happy to take questions about the menu and what to order. This makes first time visits very easy for those still a bit skeptical about trying.
Plenty of parking around the restaurant. There's also other parking close by, if needed. Conveniently located by Kroger if you need any groceries or gas afterwards. Very quaint area.
I definitely recommend trying Frontera, especially during lunch time for casual visits or family lunches. Good prices for the amount of nice...
