My family and I recently had the opportunity to dine at this Dim Sum House, and it was truly a unique experience. This restaurant offers an authentic family-style Chinese dining atmosphere, which is quite distinct from the typical fast-paced Chinese eateries in the area. While the exterior and initial impression may make it seem like a regular takeout place, don't be deceived; this is a hidden gem.
The ambiance in this Dim Sum House isn't the most upscale, but it is welcoming. The moment you step inside, you realize it's not your typical takeout joint. The warm, communal atmosphere was slightly reminiscent of our family lunches after church in Hawaii, creating a sense of nostalgia and comfort.
What's unfortunate is that they don't have dim sum carts, but I wasn't surprised given their limited customer base. The dim sum dishes we did order were excellent. They were fresh, flavorful, and matched the quality of what I've had in the past. The selection of dumplings in particular, were a highlight. It was a delightful culinary experience however, it's important to note that the dim sum menu was relatively modest and I'd love to see some Cheung Fun on the dim sum menu.
As for the main dishes, we tried the Peking Chicken and Orange Chicken. Both were flavorful and well-prepared, although the portion sizes were slightly smaller for the price. Unfortunately, the Peking chicken turned out to be a bit dry, which diminished its appeal. The orange chicken, on the other hand, had a sweet and tangy sauce that added to the overall delight.
I also ordered the Mongolian beef to go, and it was a good choice. The flavors were spot-on, and it made for a satisfying meal later on. The quality was consistent with most of our dining experience.
And, I can't forget to mention the Lychee Black Tea. It was a standout. The kettle of Lychee Black Tea was absolutely delicious, and it added a refreshing touch to our meal.
What truly set this place apart was the owner's evident pride in their food. Unlike the hurried pace of many other Chinese establishments in the area, the owner took their time to ensure that every dish was prepared with care, focusing on quality over speed.
In conclusion, this Dim Sum House provides a delightful dining experience. While the exterior might make it appear as a regular takeout place, the warmth and flavors more than make up for it. The main dishes may be somewhat expensive for the portion size but the taste is memorable. If you're seeking a unique dining experience that focuses on quality over speed, this place is worth a visit. Expect to pay a bit more for the experience of dining in a Chinese restaurant as opposed to opting for Chinese takeout, and don't miss the delightful...
Read morethe food is AMAZING and this review only reflects on the waitress who i have seen other complaints about. i come here from north augusta because i love the food so much, but the waitress/hostess with the blonde and black hair is incredibly unpleasant. tonight, i initially wrote her attitude off as being overwhelmed as we had a big table, i work food service too and understand we all have those days. but then i realized she is the same girl who was loudly arguing with her coworker last time i visited because her coworker asked her to help clean a table (the girl was sitting on her phone doing nothing and her coworker had several tables that needed to be cleaned, and she told her “it’s your job not mine” .) tonight, we barely got refills unless we tracked her down - most of the time she was, again, sitting on her phone at the hostess area. i placed a takeout order as we were wrapping up and getting ready to leave. i sat waiting for at least 30 minutes and decided to just go ahead and pay so i could see how much longer it’d be for my food, and she pulls it from behind the counter. i asked how long it had been sitting there, and she went “oh. ummm a good minute.” she tried justifying that it was still warm but the issue was in the fact that i was ready to go home and had no idea my food had been ready for at least 15-20 minutes. very poor service all night and i truly hope that she is not working next...
Read moreFirst thing to observe they where busy and obviously short on staff, cudos to the girl being wait staff, hostess, busser, phone order taker, and some cooking duties. Also note when we fist got there she we belive was the only fluent English speaker, everyone was super nice but she was the only one taking to folks. Eggroll was good, solid offering decent filling with out being slimy and the wrapper was crisp with out being greasy. The egg drop soup was good hubby enjoyed it. We got the dim sum sampler it was ok, we did not prefer the texture or it is for a more sophisticated palate then ours. I enjoyed the Char Siu Bao but again hubby not a fan. Other wise I can't comment I'm allergic to mushrooms and two of the four had mushroom in filling. I ordered the chicken with vegetables(asked for no mushrooms) came with white rice. Kiddo asked for beef and noodles, the wonderful waitress said her kids like the beef lo mein without veggies, so we said yes please. The food menu has been our favorite so far in looking for our goto "Chinese food" place. Overall veggies where cooked but not over done, the white rice was sticky but not gummy, and the meat quality in the entrées was great. Would recommend and plan...
