Melton's App & Tap — Restaurant in Georgia

I’ve been coming to Melton’s App & Tap in Decatur since I was 7 years old — back in 1997, when cartoon intros slapped and gas was a buck a gallon. My grandma used to bring me here, and if you knew her, you’d know she did not play about good food. If she liked a place, you shut up and ordered.

Decades later, and this spot hasn’t changed — and that’s the best part. The vibe is still laid-back, the food is still fire, and the menu is still serving up that “made with love” energy. It’s like the kitchen got frozen in time… but in a good way, like one of those sci-fi movies where they preserve the best parts of humanity.

I’ve basically tried the whole menu — wings, burgers, sandwiches, apps, and whatever that magic sauce is that comes with the fries — and it all hits. No fluff, no pretense, just real food that tastes like it’s been seasoned with experience and soul.

Melton’s is the kind of place where the regulars nod at each other, the staff knows your order if you’ve been there more than twice, and the beer stays cold. It’s not trying to be “hip” — it is what hip places wish they were before they got lost in truffle oil and ironic playlists.

If you want good food, a neighborhood feel, and a side of nostalgia with your ranch dressing — Melton’s is that spot. Grandma said so, and I’m just here...

My fiance and I were looking for a place to eat the other night. So we're driving around Decatur, and my fiance shot down all my ideas. Then over the horizon came Melton's App & Tap. I heard about this place so we went in. Upon entering we were greeted like Norm at Cheers, Like we were regulars. Then the aroma of food hit us and our tummies began to rumble. We sat at the bar, and was greeted by the nicest bartender I have ever had. He asked the age old question "can I get ya a drink?". Of course we said yes. overwhelmed by the menu of cold beverages we settled on a beer. Keep it simple! Our brew was delivered shockingly fast and was ice cold. My fiance was happy to find that they had vegetarian options as well, she ordered the burger and I had the bogies. This too came quickly and with 5 star service. And it was absolutely delicious!! Our taste buds danced with delight. The suggestions from the bartender were spot on. My fiance loved her black bean burger, and my bratwurst disappeared almost as fast as it was brought. We went to pay our tab and was delighted to find that we had a great meal and a couple of drinks, and even with a very generous tip, our tab was less than 35$! Full and content we returned to our house. Soon we will become regulars...

This is a pleasant and welcoming place where the servers were friendly and attentive.

My daughter really enjoyed her pasta dish and had enough leftovers for dinner for her and her fiance later that day.

(Since I first wrote this review I have returned to Melton's for lunch get togethers with family several times. The last two times my daughter and I both had the Creole Pasta. It was fantastic. We like it so much that we ordered the dinner sized portion so that we could save half and finish it off for supper later that night. This is perhaps the best pasta dish I have ever eaten, made with shrimp and sausage and just the right ammount of heat.)

My wife had the tarragon chicken salad and I had the dill chicken salad sandwich. Both were good chicken dishes, but we agreed that niether of us could taste what should have been the hero spice in our dishes.

Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience, but I came away craving dill.

(I cannot praise that Creole Pasta enough. It is worth the trip...
