My wife and I stopped at the Austell location last night Wed June 16. We arrived about 6 PM and was given a wait time of 20 min. we were seated promptly about 20 minutes later in the bar area. The bartender/server came by to take drink orders. after 2-3 trips back by the table I flagged the lady down to order a appetizer. It came out immediately and was hot and fresh. When the bartender brought the drinks she promised bread in about 8 min as was finish cooking. about 20 min after we were seated another couple was seated right behind us. she engaged that couple and immediately took there food order and drink. This is where things turned bad to worse. By this time we both had empty glasses sitting on the edge of the table. the manager came thru the area and walked past us twice , our table was at the exit of the bar. She never stopped to check on us, had never returned with bread. The manager never stopped and all this time she is walking by our glasses are still empty. Then she addressed the coupe behind us for the 3rd time and went to get them bread. Upon returning with just there bread I informed her we wanted the check for the appetizer and tea we had drank as we were leaving. She immediately got defensive and her attitude came out. I informed her that she and the manager had walked past us and had ignored us, never brought out bread. She walked away and after a few minutes came back snapping that she took care of it and we can just leave. I told her NO we are going to pay for the food and at this point NOW I am asking to speak to the manager. After a few more minutes she returned with the check and again offered to take care of the $6 tab. All the while running her mouth and talking out the side about how she thought someone else took care of us. I informed her it was her job to follow up and had never addressed us that was the problem. She had spent time talking to every single person in her area but had ignored us. Once the manager finally showed up he dismissed her and she keep running her mouth at me with BS excuses and finally she left. I told him our issue and he offered to fix the problem but at this point it was beyond repair. I further told him he was part of the problem as he had been by twice and had not stopped or addressed the empty glasses at the table side. I Do understand that in this industry that there is a shortage of help and I am a very understanding person, But MY money is just as green as the next person and I work just as hard as the next person for it. Further I have had similar problems with this O Charlie's location The manager did offer to comp a meal at a latter date. But why would I want to darken a door with a place that repeated has horrible service. O Charlie's in general has a reputation of horrible service and I have seen this 1st person in many locations. If not for my wife love of the food we would never have gone back. I cannot see us returning to this location and will never recommend this location to anyone. yours truly, A Very...
Read moreAfter a 20+ day stay in 2 hospitals over the last month and grossly enduring hospital food, all I could dream about was some real food. Because I had planned on going shopping nearby I opted for Ocharleys. In fact that is the only place I really wanted to go. I paid my transportation company to take me there and I walked in radiant knowing I was about to get some great food.
Initially I was warmly greeted by Ms Delenda the hostess. She was wonderful, so warm, so personable. She asked me for my preference (table or booth). I felt really good knowing that in this world full of entitled people, I still have choices. Ms Delenda didn't just tell me "Go there and point". She walked with me and asked if she could help me further. I was so impressed at her initiative. I asked her if she could make sure I got a coke to start out with. She said of course though she could have said "That's not my job!" She obviously took great pride in her employer, her job, and her customers. It was a delight to meet her.
Within a minute my beautiful waitress Tiffani quickly approached my table smiling. She too obviously loves her job. Before she even gave me a menu, she asked me how I was doing, almost like I mattered even more than some tip. I told her I'm OK. Just hungry. She gently placed the menu in my hands and the entire time I was there I watched her. It's really fascinating when you watch people. They can teach you so much. I was there maybe 45 minutes and I watched Tiffani as she greeted and also served every customer on that side of the room. She was constantly filled drinking glasses with tea and water; making recommendations. She cleaned tables. But more than that, she refreshed my spirit that had been pretty low for months. She never stopped moving as she could not stop serving her customers enough. She earned the extra tip I gave her. She like Ms Delenda was delightful. As she gave me my receipt I asked if I could speak with her manager. She didn't assume the worst like many do. Instead she went immediately and got Ms Chanel.
When Chanel came to see me, she beamed as if she too, as the others, loved what she does for a living. No burnout here. Just pure joy. I thought I came for a meal. Instead, I received an afternoon rich with new friends. What a group of people.! They didnt seem like employees. This was no doubt a family. I got the opportunity to spend several minutes talking with Ms Chanel, though i know she had to have been busy. What a beautiful person who also totally made my day.
I thought I came for food. Instead i got nourishment i had not had for months. I am confident too that Ms Chanel, Delenda, and Tiffani are not alone in the way they treat others and value their jobs. If I were not disabled now, I think I too would want to work at Ocharleys Austell too. What an atmosphere of fun, food, and friends. Thank you Chenel, Tiffani, and Delenda for making my whole month. I hope to be back after another doctor's...
Read moreI was sorely disappointed by the service from our server and management. Here's Why: At 6pm on a Sunday afternoon, we had a party of about 20 (Adults and Kids) and made a reservation. After being seated, our server announces that the restaurant is short-staffed and to "please bear with them" -Not a problem, since most of us work in customer service we understand- plus we really just wanted the rolls :) then our server says he's going to bring all of us water to start and then take drink and appetizers orders. He takes the Drinks and Appetizers orders, Most of the party orders Sweet Tea, which is served by pitcher-this is important later, then brings water for everyone and rolls. About 15 mins later, he pops up to take entree orders. Since he is the only server, this takes time, but we all notice that he is agitated. I ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip with chips as an appetizer, it arrives about 15 min later, Luke warm, like the cheese on top isn't melted. The spinach has the consistency of sauteed collard greens, then mixed with cheese. The chips appeared to have been mixed with the hot, fresh ones on top and stale ones on bottom, noticeably different colors, seemingly fried in different oil. Still no drinks, but entrees are served about 20-25 minutes later. I ordered the Fried Cod and Shrimp, with collard greens and macaroni and cheese, mac -and cheese was the hottest thing on the plate, which is disappointing to say I ordered Fried Food. Other food issues, under-cooked steak, cold french fries, cold chicken- to name a few, only the kids' orders appear to have no issues. When we notified our server of the issues, he kept saying that he wold work to get it corrected, and his attitude definitely went downhill from there. So while it doesn't take us that long to eat because we were all starving at this point, and no drinks, although we had asked a few times at this point, the Tea arrives but is set away from our party on a countertop, so we never served it, once we figured out it was the Sweet tea, we served ourselves, since we were finished eating, oh and no napkins, the server comes and announces that there would be no charges for the drinks, and will get our tickets together. Tickets arrive, we are charged for drinks, when we asked the server about he charges, he said the manager would not allow him to remove the drinks. Really?! Removing the drinks would have been a minor concession compared to the aggravation and horrible treatment we received. Normally, in this situation I would have contacted corporate, I still may, for a comp, but I am not sure I would...
