Being from Boston, it's really hard to find an Irish pub that feels like home. This pub nailed it!
It was my first time there and not only did they have exceptional taste in Irish music, but the food was delicious and the bartender welcomed us like he's known us for years. It was a nice enough summer day and we had our dog so we sat outside on the patio. Which aside from one pesky bee was fantastic. The inside is even more so. There's a huge fireplace that even unlit feels cozy and an entire shelf of board games to stay occupied on hot summer days or cold winter days.
The scotch eggs were divine and I will be recreating their soda bread and sweet butter at home! The main reason we went was for a beer they had on tap that is my MIL's favorite beer and she hadn't had it for 20 years because she couldn't find it in the states. After talking with the bartender, find out that they keep things as authentic as possible by making everything they can in-house.
The bartender was fantastic! He took the time to explain dishes to us, how they cook it, what about it makes it authentic and even the history of the pub. Specifically the name change that happened somewhat recently. It was a really cool story and for the service alone I would give it five stars but adding on everything else. I wish I could give it more.
I honestly should have taken pictures because it was such a great afternoon but instead I got a t-shirt and a sweatshirt to remember the occasion. And every time that I go back to Washington I will be going back to this pub....
Read moreMy wife and I went to the restaurant for the first time tonight. The reason we went is because we had a two for one offer. I ordered the New York steak which came with the mashed potatoes with thick onion gravy and brussels sprouts. My wife ordered the pub cheeseburger and fries. The food arrived at the table, and my steak was grilled as ordered. However, it was a different story with my wife’s order. It was a disaster. Her pub burger was delivered cold and her french fries were cold as well. My wife’s order must have been sitting on the counter waiting for my steak to get done. She could manage only one bite of the cold burger and a few of fries.
As far as a service went, when the food arrived, the waitress forgot to bring us silverware or napkins. We never did get water with our service. We give both the service and food a rating of two out of five.
We are going to try it one more time. We live in Gig Harbor so we really want to give it a fair chance. Maybe this was just...
Read moreWell, that was super awesome! I've been here before when t had another name, but I'm thinking they have a new chef. It was fine/ good before. Now it's great! Started with the Scotch eggs. That was a new one for me, one I will surely repeat. Think softboiled egg in a katsu ish breading fried to perfection. Add seasoning, cabbage bits, and yummy mustard ish sauce plus generous wedges of Dubliner cheese. It would have been enough for me, but I tried the shepherd's pie. Yeah. Absolutely delicious. Perfect meat veggies, crisped cheese over potatoes., spicing. I ordered the half. My friend ordered and ate a full order it was so good. Nice people around us, nice wait staff, great whiskey recommendation, and the live music was exceptional. Funny, fun, beautiful, and such a great fiddler! I'll be...
