El Mariachi isn’t just the best Mexican restaurant in Glassboro — it’s the heart of the town.
I don’t even know where to begin because this place means so much to me.
The food? Unreal. They bring out homemade chips and salsa the second you sit — warm, fresh, and endless. The meals are full of love: perfectly seasoned tacos, rich birria, sizzling molcajetes loaded with meat and grilled nopales, and tortillas so fresh you can taste the time and care in every bite.
But what makes this place truly special is the people.
They know my boyfriend and me by name. They smile when we walk in. They ask us how we’re doing — even asked if we had plans for Pride Month. No weirdness, no judgment — just love, respect, and warmth. That kind of energy? You don’t forget it.
It’s BYOB, so we can bring a six-pack, eat like royalty, and still leave full without breaking the bank. There’s even a glass bottle of cold water on the table so you can pour your own refills — no rushing, no waiting. It’s small things like that that make you feel like you’re not just a customer — you’re part of something.
They’re open until midnight every night. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come here after a rough day, late at night, and left feeling whole again.
This isn’t just a restaurant to us. It’s a safe space. A comfort zone. A part of our lives.
El Mariachi has fed me when I was broke, welcomed me when I felt out of place, and made me feel human when I needed it most.
If you’re lucky enough to stumble into this place, cherish it. Tip them well. Come back often. And tell them thank you — because what they’re doing here is something really, really special.

Read moreI grew up in the state of Texas…Born and raised. My first job was at 15 was at a TexMex restaurant named Federico’s Mexican Cuisine. I worked in Mexican restaurants for five years…and not at chain restaurants. I’ve had authentic Tex Mex and Mexican foods in the Houston, Austin, San Antonio Dallas, El Paso areas, and several other Southwestern cities/states. I’ve also spent a good amount of time in Mexico… Durango, Torreón, San Luis Rio Colorado, Tijuana, and several other cities for work. I’ve tried local cuisine in many places. even at home, I cook Mexican food at least twice a week for myself. All this to say that I think I know a little bit about Mexican and TexMex foods (though I still have much to learn.) 😊 .
Now, to El Mariachi… I would put this restaurant up against any that I have tried in my past. I love their food from the chips and hot sauce to the tamales. The Queso Fundido was just as good as I’ve had anywhere. Enchiladas were exceptional. The steak Fajitas were outstanding. The tamales (I bought six of them) were moist and flavorful. Not dry and crumbly. The shrimp tacos were fantastic as well. And El Mariachi has such an extensive menu that I could go there once a week for the next two years and not have tried everything on the menu! I’ll try!! The service was excellent even when just picking up an order. Believe me when I say this, folks, this is some of the best Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food in this entire region if not continent....
Read more1st off - Thank you all for so much for working through that disaster of a day today.
Unfortunately, this year's Cinco de Mayo fell on not only ”taco Tuesday” but during a time when no one is able to go out to party. Many people had already preordered directly and there were orders coming in through door dash & grub hub (these apps base ”wait & pickup” times on the location’s typical day to day turn around times) - so of course some customers we're disgruntled when they arrived to find out that the orders were behind a few hours. The restaurant or it's staff are in no way responsible for the delay. In fact, they worked extremely hard to work through the orders, upped their kitchen staff, and did their best to assist all customers waiting with any issues.
I had never dined or ordered here previously, but El Mariachi came highly recommended by friends. The food did not disappoint - it was hands down THE BEST my family has ever tasted when it comes to mexican. I'm so glad that even though my 2:30pm order (through grub hub with estimated pick up time of 5:30) was not ready to walk out the door until 8pm, I decided to wait around for it to be ready!
Come on people - everyone should be aware enough to realize that it was going to be complete insanity ordering a take out meal today, especially authentic...
