Not Allergy Friendly and Rude Staff
I have food allergies (Gluten, Dairy, and Vegetable Oil) that I always alert restaurant staff to when I order. Usually this isn’t a big deal and the staff is able to accommodate in some way. However, our waitress was extremely rude after I stated my allergies. She refused to write them down and stated that she was just going to call the manager over. The manager was 5 feet from us and we could hear the waitress complaining about me and just not wanting to deal with me. The manager came over and was very aggressive towards me and stated that there was almost no way to serve me with my allergies. I asked if they had olive oil and she stated no. I asked if there was anyway they’d be able to fry me two eggs in a pan at all and she stated no in an annoyed tone. She offered me a salad or a fruit cup but I was unfortunately allergic to some of the fruit/veggies in them. They tossed a menu at me and told me to look it over again and huffed away. I asked one more time if there was anyway I could eat anything and went through some dishes with our waitress until she got frustrated and aggressively took my menu away. She then continued to ignore me for the rest of our meal she wouldn’t even fill my water until all four of my friends asked her to. She then placed a new glass of water on the table right into the other one. It would’ve spilled if I didn’t grab it. She continued this behavior for the rest of our meal until I was on the brink of tears. I explained the situation to a higher-up manager and he explained that they have plenty of olive oil and clean pans and spatulas in the back. He told me that I could have been easily accommodated and that he was going to talk to the waitress and manager about this. He was wonderful and it felt like he actually cared about what happened. While he was very nice, I will never be coming back to this diner due to...
Read moreSo Monarch Diner in Glassboro finally opened on President's Day and I've been waiting. It stands where the old PB's diner was but let me tell you if you went there, don't go to Monarch Diner looking for the same place....cause it ain't. The entire setting is different. I mean they have revamped the place, modernized it, lightened it up and it all around is just more friendly to see. The colors are so much lighter, the seating arrangements are, well hell, there's way more of them. I mean The Whole Entire Diner is just off the chain.
Ok so I know its the food you want to know about but in order to speak about the food we have to start with the staff. My hubby and I met one of the co-owners, Andy and he is just friendly as all get out. I mean he stood and had great conversation with us. Most managers/owners just say is everything ok and then keep on going. So that was a plus. Our waiter Nick was awesome. His bday is in 15 days so Happy BDay Nick. Anyway he was busy and immediately apologized as soon as he got to our table for taking a little longer than usual to get to us. Right there....he had us. He answered any questions we had about the menu, referred a great cosmo for us. My hubby ordered the baby back ribs and I ordered the filet mignon tips in Marsala. Everything was cooked to perfection and came out in a timely manner. The place was packed. I couldn't eat everything so I'll be finishing mine for dinner tomorrow. There's even an awesome dessert display so I grabbed a piece of cheesecake on the way out and the slice is equal to two slices if you ask me. Anyway, there's a lot to choose from on the menu. Something for everyone and because it's so close to us we will be there quite often. I give this place 10 thumbs up but wait...I only have 2 so guess I can only give them 2. But I pray this place is around...
Read moreGood food. Abysmal service. My husband and I have been to this diner several times in the past and the food has always been decent and the service inconsistent but okay. But good enough for us to come back when we've found ourselves in the area. However today was our last visit. We will not be returning. Halfway through my breakfast omelet I found myself choking on eggshells; some large bits along with others I had unknowingly ground down while chewing. Fortunately, I was okay, but I needed to let management know that they needed to pay more attention in the kitchen. So I waited for our waitress to come and check on us. Sadly, it was about 1/2 hour from the time we were served before she returned to our table. She apologized for both the wait and the eggshell and said she would send the manager to our table. That took another 15 minutes. I explained the problem, prefacing with the fact that we've been there on a number of occasions without issue, but that she needed to know about this. Instead of an apology she stated that since they use fresh eggs this was bound to happen and they are not responsible. She wanted to see the shells I had spit out as proof. Apparently, my stating that I had choked on and swallowed much of it wasn't enough. She whisked my plate away and didn't return. After about 5 minutes of waiting we went to the register to pay the check and she happened to be there. She actually looked us in the eye and said, "how was everything today?" Seriously? When my husband said, "okay except for the eggshells my wife was served," she shrugged and asked him to swipe his credit card. There are plenty of restaurants that offer both good food and good service. We'll be spending our money at one of...
