Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Glen Carbon

We went there this past week. I ordered the Spinarch & Artichoke Chicken Penne and my Fiancé ordered the Sirloin Steak. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium well.

When we first received our food, my chicken was still raw in the middle and my fiancé’s steak was medium rare. We asked for the food to be sent back. The second time I received my chicken penne it was cooked properly and all was fine. However, they brought my fiancé’s steak back charred.

We then asked if they could cook a new steak to the medium well we asked for, which is typically described as “some pink” in the middle. They brought back a new steak also cooked medium rare, which was easy to tell by it creating a blood pool around it. This steak was brought out to us by who I assume based on their attire was the manager. When we said that at this point we were tired of the back and forth and that we would just tolerate the steak she offered to bring out a steak chart to ‘educate’ us on the definitions of each rare, medium rare, medium, etc.

At this point we gave up all hope on the staff at this location and their inability to accept feedback on their food. At no point did we get nasty nor even respond in a condescending manner and yet that was pretty the experience we got from the staff.

My Mom and I were at Applebee's on Friday Nov 19th around Noon. I came here to say that we had the best server we have ever had at Applebee's his name was Connor. He was so kind and accommodating. He definitely went above an beyond! I also want to say the server who was next to our section Laurie was also amazing! Not only did she help Connor when needed. A family came in and was seated in her section they had a young boy who was crying and upset. Within 5 mins I noticed he finally stopped crying only to see that Laurie before this family even ordered had got him a plate of fries as quick as possible an thats all the little guy wanted he was hungry. LOL Both these servers were so kind and patient they both deserve a bonus a raise something!

Now as far as the food our salad and boneless wings were great as always and fresh! We decided to try the cheeto cheese bites. They were extremely greasy and just way too salty for us. Connor had told us that was the first order he had for them and they still trying to master the technique as they are new. Totally understandable. He was kind enough to get them replaced for us with just regular cheese bites which were excellent!

Overall we had a great experience with fast friendly service...

Family of four went to enjoy the Kids eat free night (1/14/20). Unfortunately mine and my fiance's food did not meet our usual expectations. We had the 2 for $25, I had the chicken pasta and he had the steak. My pasta was over cooked but still edible (didn't mention it to our server) my fiance ordered a medium rare steak and it came out way over cooked. Our server took it back, the manager came and apologized and later brought us out another. It too was over cooked. Our server came to check on us and we told her it still wasn't right but to not worry about it. Then another server/helper came to bring us another steak (as there was some mix up in the kitchen) and it as well was over cooked. The manager came out again and apologized, as did our server; they have a new cook. We told them it was okay, it happens, sometimes for some, cooking a steak isn't as easy. They credited us his meal and also gave us more money off our ticket. I wasn't expecting any of that! I was thinking maybe a bit because unfortunately my fiance didn't get to really eat. Sometimes things happen and aren't great, but our server and the manager handled it so well and took care of us! Thank you so much to our server Stephanie and the manger, you two...
