I recently visited Dat Jerk with my family, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. We ordered a kid's meal that included curry chicken and mac & cheese. Given how messy and saucy curry can be, I requested that the curry chicken be separated from the mac & cheese. To my surprise, I was upcharged 49 cents for this simple request. It is absurd to charge extra for a separate container, especially when it comes to maintaining the quality and appeal of the meal.
Additionally, the service left much to be desired. While waiting to place my order, the staff blatantly ignored me, choosing to finish their personal conversations with colleagues instead. It's incredibly frustrating to be overlooked when you're standing right in front of them, ready to order.
Overall, this experience was quite disappointing, and I hope Dat Jerk takes these issues seriously and improves both their service and their policies regarding upcharges for basic requests.
Lastly, the prices for jerk pork per pound listed on the menu is totally different from what they charge you. If one half pound of jerk pot is 17.99 a pound, how is it possible to charge someone more that 8.99? Seems like simple math to me but what do I know. I will not be going back.
Watch your receipt. They are charging you...
Read moreThe food is always good. I ordered 1/2lb of their expensive jerk pork-yep, and I weighed it. $12 for half pound. I never expect good service at all. Most recent experience for 1 the entrance has some type of safety issue where there is extreme air pressure. Its either hard to open or shuts really fast. The lady that was serving the food was very welcoming( short lady). The 2nd lady(tall) at the register did everything else but acknowledge and when my food was ready she came to the register and was just looking at me. After a few awkward seconds she asked if im paying. No...im just standing here waiting on you to take your time....no biggie. I had to ask for my sauce because as soon as she placed my food down she addressed the next paying customer. Dismissive. I didn't want to match energy so I waited until she was done and asked for my sauce and she just handed it to me. I asked her for a menu for my job for catering she handed me a business card and walked away. I asked for an actual menu for catering and she said go online. 😐 When I'm unhappy at a place of employment, I just find a new position...just sayin. Then I noticed after reviewing my receipt a few days later there was a tip of $1. Added... lol, yeah- ok. I have to look at my receipts prior to leaving...
Read moreI can't give this place 1 star because I've had a lot of past positive experiences with the owners and catering my family's birthday events throughout the past 5 years.
Had a bad experience with a person who was working as cashier 3 weeks ago and we don't plan on coming back here anymore.
My Mom's from Jamaica, picked her and my Dad up from the BWI airport and ordered her and my Dad 2 meals for pickup. Arrived 30-40 mins later only to be told someone else took my food. I get it, people are jerks and things happen but the cashier argued with me that I probably had someone else pick it up, because the person who showed up gave my first name.
The food pickup area is right next to the bathroom with names clearly displayed. It's very likely the person walked to the register, saw my name and said that was there food.
The cashier just kept repeating, he said the name, so we gave him the food. Maybe you called someone to pick it up? And then she called the owner and gave details that didn't appear true like "he listed all of the items in the bag, and he said the first and last name."
Getting the money refunded by DoorDash is easy but that experience has sent us to get our Caribbean...
