The quality of service has really dropped over the past few years at this Mc Donald’s at Glenoaks and Western. I remember going to this Mc Donalds in 2013 and 2014. The management were typically middle aged women from the local Glendale community. They treated me professionally and with good customer service.
Unfortunately today those workers and managers have been replace with younger people with poor customer service and professionalism. Two recent examples from my last two visits:
A few weeks ago at 9 a.m. during breakfast rush hour, the manager arbitrarily locked the entire McDonald’s lobby doors off so no walk-in customers could order from the restaurant. She literally locked the north, south, and east entrance doors to customers who arrived by foot.
Today (May 24, 2022), a young manager who said his name was “Geraldo” stood behind the register to take my order. I was the only person in line. When I told him I would please like to have a “Deluxe Big Breakfast and a large Diet Coke, please” , he waved me aside with his hands and began conversing with a lady who was seated far in the back of the restaurant at the Glenoaks entrance.
When the lady asked him to serve me instead of talk to her, he returned to me and said he didn’t hear a word that I said and that I would need to repeat my order to him from the beginning. He further stated that he wasn’t acting passive aggressive towards me out of bias (I am of African American descent). Nevertheless He continued to speak rude to me through the transaction and I just came there for breakfast after taking a long hike above brand park library that morning.
This manager - whose job is to provide basic hospitality service - clearly does not enjoy serving people from ALL ethnic backgrounds. I have lived in So Cal for 35 years and taught in East L.A. for 20 and recognize the pattern of this manager’s behavior, unfortunately.
I hope Mc Donald’s corporate can retrain Manager Geraldo and also recruit more workers to this McDonalds who are professional and enjoy serving ALL people - like I did when I taught public school in Southeast Los Angeles.
PS: I gave this rating an additional star because I have had better experiences with their drive through when I was in my late model ,...
Read moreWorst McDonald’s service in California. Try it and you’ll see. A complete disaster!
I’m in town for a few weeks and this is the only McDonalds near my hotel. I’ve tested this location several times a week to see if my first experience was as bad as I thought. It was and it is religiously awful. The staff are genuinely the ultimate worst. Just pure dreadful.
Order on their self service machines and guess what? 9 out of 10 times you STILL have to go to the register to pay. In other words, twice the effort. That’s a machine issue.
Order on the app and you’ll see a mess that’s completely a disaster.
Their app AND their table tents say “table service” - “please place tent on table and relax. Your delicious food is on its way”. It’s a numbered tent. Can’t mess this up yet, they do consistently.
I’ve ordered on the app daily and daily, I wait, and wait, and wait, and wait and seldom does anyone bring it due to their lackluster approach to service. It’s plain awful. Like a ZERO and, they don’t care.
Management obviously are in the wrong business. Wrong management and wrong servers. (Cooks are as always acceptable because it’s always what you expect from McDonald’s)
So. Don’t expect them to bring it. It will be a miracle if they do. Also, beware, their ice cream machine here breaks down so, good luck getting a refund. It just won’t happen. They tell you to get a refund on the app and it’s no problem. (For who?? They most certainly don’t show you where you can get a refund on the app because they don’t know. They just want to avoid it. They just don’t care.
After decades of eating at McDonald’s with my family, I am definitely qualified to know this is by far the worst location for customer service / staff.
Staff is everything to a business. Perhaps McDonald’s so start again wirh staff at this location.
Terrible. Simply terrible. I can’t believe I’ve had this experience...
Read moreYou're going to read this and think, this HAS to be a joke. I assure you, it's not. I went to this McDonald's on 4/24 to try the new chicken sandwich. I saw signage that said if they didn't offer it to me, I would get a free one on my next visit. They also had a sign up that said their drink machines were all not working so my options were milkshakes, water, and coffee. They had the audacity to still charge $4 for a milkshake. I brushed that off as a corporate policy or whatever.
I pulled around to pay and asked for my free chicken sandwich coupon. The employee in the window said, "We don't do that anymore." He immediately sounded irritated with me and like I was running his day. I get it my guy. I've been in your shoes. I've worked customer service for over a decade in my life.
I informed him that his signage said that the offer was continuing until 4/26. He told me there's nothing he can do about it. I asked for a manager and he said, "Fine I guess I'll check."
A few moments later someone went running out the back door, undoubtedly to take the sign down. The employee returns and says, "This is the best I can do." They handed me a coupon that was: Expired in Dec 2020, unsigned by the manager (which there was space for on the card), and was a BUY ONE get one for an ice cream cone.
I literally laughed as I pulled to the next window. The shake handed to me was the wrong size and by the time I got home, my fries were cold. I should mention, I literally live across the street. There are only a few people who live closer to this site than I do.
I will only be returning to have the manager read this message. Train your staff. Handle...
