Did I go to Ozzy's Apizza due to seeing Dave Portnoy give them a great review on One Bite? Yes or yes? Was I getting kind of bored and jaded about the Pizza scene in LA? Yes or yes? Was I having digestive issues and constipation due to high amounts of Pizza consumption? Yes or yes? Did I also have to balance my Chi due to this and more? Yeah. I did. I had to balance my Chi, but I did so. I did it so strongly. And hey, I never wound up in the hospital over it. Did I also try New Haven Pizza in New Haven? Yes or yes? Was THAT because of Portnoy. Not fully. All us Pizza Devotees have known of the legend of New Haven for quite some time now, for me probably a decade and a half. But in the Summer of 2023 I did go to Sally's Apizza with my then pregnant partner. Which we have on film by the way. Now, in the Spring of 2024 with our child born, did we try Ozzy's Apizza on Mother's Day? Yes or yes? DId it make sense Portnoy gave this 8.1 and then later on decided to make the score even higher at 8.3, which he never does? Yeah. It did man. And I say this having had egregious amounts of different Pizzas all over the Country and furthermore have been to Italy. Okay? I will say there is a difference due to Los Angeles banning Coal Ovens that you don't get because of the gas ovens but they have great gas ovens and considering this is LA... is Ozzy's a breath of fresh air? Yeah. And by the way, they love Wrestling and have wrestling themed t-shirts for sale. They have awesome people working there who also do other things like create coffees to fund their friend's cancer treatment and such. If you are real about PIzza and you are in LA, should you go to Ozzy's? Yes or Yes? What would I rate it if I was using a One Bite scale? I don't know if I can really veer far from Dave on this one however, I will say that outside of this place I am only thrilled about a handful of Pizza places in the grand scheme of things which include Little Dynamite and Prime here and Fiorella, Damn Fine in San Francisco. Did I sense a tinge of Boston vibes on the Pizza? Yeah, I kind of did. Traits that are positive and found in Santarpio's and Regina's were there. Is Ozzy's Apizza basically something that feels at that level? Yeah. That is a high compliment especially since they opened in 2021, during pandemic. I'll be back.

My wife and I are from New Haven CT and we are pretty fanatical about New Haven pizza. We moved to Los Angeles last year and have been underwhelmed with local pizza. So we were understandably intrigued when we heard of Ozzies because it was started by two New Haven area guys and they claim to have authentic New Haven pizza. So this was our experience last weekend. The restaurant is in an outdoor courtyard/patio that is part of a larger complex called the Glen Arden Club. I have no idea what that is or what they do, but Ozzies doesn’t seem to have any connection with it beside working out of the space. There are quite a few tables, mostly covered, a really attractive space. There is a bar for drinks and a counter where you order your pizza. One of the owners served us, a really nice guy. We told him of our New Haven connection and we had a good conversation. He definitely knew the New Haven pizza scene, used all the lingo (abeetz, mootz, rigot) and the pizza selection looked familiar. We ordered a selection that represented classic New Haven pizza: Your Very Own Cheese (a plain cheese), The Pepperoni Idiot (a cheese and pepperoni), You’re Welcome (a white clam, garlic and olive oil), The Mega Powers (a white fresh tomato, basil, olive oil and garlic), and The Mikey Rabbit (a white pie with mozzarella, white ricotta cream sauce and spinach with Zuppardi’s style sausage). Here are our thoughts. The crust was very good - thin but not cracker-y, cooked well but unfortunately with no char (New Haven pizza is traditionally cooked in coal ovens, which leaves the crust looking a little burned but that is one of best parts. Unfortunately, I believe it is illegal to cook with coal in California, so no points off for this!) The tomato sauce on the two red pizzas was disappointing, too much oregeno, New Haven sauce is pretty much just crushed tomatoes. But the white pizzas were fantastic. The clam pie was just right, the tomato/spinach/garlic was great and the white sausage was fantastic. Overall, it was a great experience. Comparing it to New Haven pizza, I would give it a few points off for the tomato sauce but Ozzies is not only a solid New Haven pizza place, it probably is the best pizza I have had in California. Highly recommended.

We had 2 pizzas for lunch here, they serve New Haven style pizza, which I’m a fan of, so I have a bit of a positive bias. Really tasty pizzas, will definitely go again. The pizzas were 14” and very thin crust. The crusts had the New Haven style crispyness which I can’t get enough of, so good. Flavor was really good too. We went during lunch time and it looked like they had just opened so we were the only group there. You put in your order at a counter, they give a number and you pick your own seats. There’s a second counter where you buy drinks, they have alcoholic options as well. It’s a large and spacious outdoor area, I thought it was really cool. Towards the end of our meal a few other groups started coming in one after the other, I can see this place getting packed during lunch time however I did not whiteness it. We parked on the street right outside, no meters.

Stopped by for a late lunch and had a wonderful experience all around. The service was super friendly and fast. There looked to be a good selection of sodas, beer, and maybe wine too. We got the Sprecher Craft Root Beer and it was delicious. For pizzas, we ordered the Liotta and the White Rabbit with mushrooms added. The Liotta has no mozzarella and you honestly don't even miss it. The tomato sauce is full of flavor and the the dough is thin yet perfectly crispy. There's a light dusting of parmesan too. It all works together beautifully. For a simple yet delicate style, everything must be executed well and Ozzy’s gets that. The White Rabbit was also executed well. The ricotta cream sauce had good flavor but didn't overwhelm the generous toppings. I'd been craving white pizza and this one really hit the spot. We had an overall great experience, and we'll definitely be back. The only thing that could have improved the experience is maybe a little less...
