This review honestly saddens me to the core. My wife and I used to dine at Parsons monthly- some times weekly. We , for nearly 30 years, always each got a patty melt. They were just reliably good. Not great- but good enough. The restaurant is a mom & pop place in our neighborhood. November we went there- had our usual patty melts, and within 40 minutes both of us were sick! Throwing up our meal. Being that we were home all week, this was our only outing, and we both became violently ill, we pinned it on possibly being old meat. December we decided to try it again. We really weren’t SURE it had been the meal that made us sick, and we had a previous 30 year streak of good experiences. Again we order our trusty usual meal. This time when we were presented our plates the melts were BURNT. I mean charcoal burnt. Not a little, I mean blackened rye bread on both sides. I guess my poker face wasn’t as good as I thought it was and the waitress said,” I wouldn’t eat this like that, ya want me to take it back?” But as she said the right words, her body language and tone did not match. She had already released the plates and was walking away. My husband and I didn’t even answer as she was already walking away. As she pivoted to leave she had the audacity to suggest “next time be sure to ask them not to over cook them”. Whaaat?? 30 years of ordering never have they asked if we prefer it regularly grilled or extra blackened. No offer of compensation, such as a few dollars knocked off the bill- nothing. We ate what we could, guzzled our sodas to help compensate for the overly cooked meal- NEVER ONCE DID SHE OR ANYONE COME BACK TO SEE IF WE WERE OK, or needed refills. So, we have given Parsons a good dose of leaving alone. These people knew us, knew what we ate, we didn’t even have to state our order, they’d say “the usual?”I hope they notice we aren’t returning.
I strongly suggest trying another place. This place’s integrity is as lacking as the updated decor. You...
Read moreI wanted to share my experience with Perkins Restaurant I was afraid there by my teacher from Glendale Community College and had gone there from time to time. The other day I took my landscape crew and stop to have breakfast and when we got there the parking lot was semi full there is a back side of the parking lot where people can drive through but there are entrances on both sides looking at the situation I did not see a problem with people being able to leave as there were two entrances so I parked on the back side where people would drive through because I had a large truck and trailer. Apparently a customer became irate at the fact that I parked there and the owner came and started yelling at me very rudely to move my truck as I went to the door I have this old lady probably around 70 years old cussing me out. I told the owner I would take my business elsewhere as we had barely got our food and had not touched it yet and he threatened to call the cops on me it was at that point thAt if I treat my customers the way he does I would not have anybody hiring me this whole time this old lady is cussing me. I maintain my composure and I feel like after I said that to the owner he realize what I was saying was true cuz he seemed to change his tone and help me a little bit try to get this lady to move her car because I had no way out except for the where she was. When she backed out it was very plain to see that she could have just pulled out very easily out of the first entrance but she chose to cuss me and scream obscenities at me. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant it is very run down and although the food is okay it's not worth being treated like garbage...
Read moreIt wasn't the worst but it wasn't the best. I was very disappointed because we read the reviews and they were great! Since the pandemic we have been trying to spend at family owned businesses. The server clearly wasn't interested in being our server. I asked if there was pork in the gravy because me and my family do not eat pork. She said no, so we ordered chicken fried steaks. Unfortunately there is pork in the gravy. I let her know we would not be eating it. She said oh ok and left the check and asked if we wanted boxes I again said no we don't eat pork. She said ok and walked away no apology or even offer anything else. Roach crawling across the table while I patiently waited for her to see I was still sitting there and come back but she never did. unfortunate that it probably is a good place but because of this experience we...
