Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Glendale

This place is excellent! They change their ice flavors slightly every day but the ones we ordered are apparently there most of the time. I ordered a Mango Gelati which is Italian ice layered in with their frozen custard. Their frozen custard deserves a sentence of its own in this review. It is the most unique, smoothest, most delicious frozen custard I think I've ever had anywhere. I like mango, so the ice was great as well and paired very nicely. My wife ordered the four ices with custard on top as pictured (sorry it's smashed, I had a lid on it). Her ice flavors were: Lemon, Cherry Limade, Pumpkin Pie Cream, and Mango, I believe. I sampled all of them and they were all good. The price is a little more than a scoop at traditional ice cream shop, but in my opinion, well worth it! I got great service and a toothsome treat. Horrible customer service!! Showed up about 15 to 20 mins before they closed, lights were turned off, doors locked, wouldn't answer the phone. Others were sitting on the bench with drinks, which had just been served. Comes up with excuses not to serve customers, and then calls them rude and abusive? The manager does not care about customers, let alone her business! Was rude when answering the phone, talked over me every time I had something to say, and yelled at me over the phone saying what do you need me to do? She said ohh well the one day out of the year we shut down early, you just happened to be the customer who it happened to, sorry. Then hung up on me!! What a joke, Finally, I realized I will spend my money elsewhere. Just super disappointed in customer service, you would think for the sake of being a small franchise they would...

They are not selling frozen custard! Their business is very misleading. The product they sell is the exact same thing that Costco sells in its food court. This is soft serve ice cream and has nothing to do with frozen custard. If you ate frozen custard once in your life, you know that it is very dense and it is served with hard plastic spoons so you can scoop it. They gave me a flimsy thin plastic spoon and that moment i know i was not getting frozen custard. This business is doing false advertisement, misleading people and the ice cream soft serve they sell is not frozen custard. In Phoenix, Peoria, Glendale and near by areas, your best bet is Culver's if you are looking to eat real frozen custard. Again, they are selling soft serve ice cream, not frozen custard! Huge...
