Umai Teriyaki — Restaurant in Glendale

I ordered 2 lunch specials, a dinner meal (beef ribs) and an order of California rolls. The woman who answers the phone cannot understand the English language very well and it made it difficult to order. I had to start my order over several times because if I asked a question about any part of a meal, she would assume that I wanted it and added it to the order. It discouraged me from ordering anything else since I had no menu to order from. Also, I at the end of my order I asked if everything (each item) came with salad and she replied yes. I even told her how good the salad is and she giggled and said thank you. My son picked up my order for me and when I looked, there was no salad. I called and spoke with the same woman who had no problem speaking English well enough to understand me and to tell me that not one item I ordered came with a side salad. There are way too many Teriyaki restaurants nearby to put up with that sort of thing. The only reason i gave 2 stars is because the food is decent as Teriyaki goes. Next time I will try another spot. This is one of my favorite spots in Montrose if I want to eat something real quick and don't want to spend a lot of money.

The prices are very reasonable and the portion sizes are generous. I always get the beef and chicken bowl with veggies on the side and it is plenty of food for me.

The place is very small and of course it does get busy during peak lunch times, but so does every other restaurant on Honolulu so you should expect to wait...

Stay away from here! I ate some sort of beef bowl from here a few days ago until I couldn’t stomach it anymore because something wasn’t right. The next day I landed in the emergency room from horrible stomach pains and symptoms which ultimately was diagnosed as colitis CAUSED BY THEIR FOOD containing salmonella and ecoli.
