My husband, brother, sister-in-law, and I searched for a good Haitian restaurant; we have been to a few, but this one ….Hands down, is the best authentic Haitian restaurant in the area. First of all, a sign posted on the door informing you of the slight increase in prices due to inflation... Much respect!! Most places won't even tell you that their prices have increased. Secondly, a beautiful young lady with a beautiful smile greeted us when we entered, she was so pleasant and sat us immediately. There was island music playing and an aroma that triggered our palates; it made you feel like you were in the islands. Al came to our table, introduced himself, and promised to make our first experience one we will never forget, and that's precisely what he did. He made us feel like we were family, the hospitality from when we entered until we left was beyond our expectations. The restaurant is decorated with beautiful Haitian art, vibrant colors, and a tv playing music videos from the islands; the ambiance was everything. We ordered the goat, black rice, red snapper, and Creole shrimp... The food was to die for, it was fresh, flavorful, and it was definitely made with LOVE. OMG, the cornbread and the coconut-pineapple cheesecake were SINFUL😋😋. Kudos to Al’s wife and mother-in-law, the chefs; they made our meal with love. I have recommended this restaurant to all of my friends and family. We can’t wait to go back. Fantastic food, good music, the bomb ambiance, and the best customer service EVER!!!! Do yourself a favor, go and try it out… you will...
Read moreAs a brother, I hate to drag a Black business, but in this case, you've got to do better. The food here is pretty good, despite the fact that they often don't have things on the menu, and the portion size is underwhelming for the price. But the service, however, is terrible. I called, and the woman who took my order over the phone had an attitude. She told me the cornbread was never a side item for the meals when I have bought meals there three times before, and know for a fact it once was. But I can tell she was irritated and wanted to argue with me, so I dropped it. Then she took my order, failed to take my name, told me to come right away to pick up my order, and my wife arrived 20 minutes later and no one was aware of my order, so she had to order AGAIN. My order specifically included their corn bread, which is the main reason I would buy there. But, my wife arrived, and suddenly, they had no corn bread. Then my wife had to wait 45 minutes for the food, despite the woman telling me to come right away. Patrons often are not allowed to sit inside at the tables, which is also lame. My wife had to wait in the front of the restaurant alongside another unhappy customer who had been waiting too long. This will likely be our last time purchasing anything from here, and it didn't have to be this way if they had simply valued the customer. The food is solid, but not nearly good enough for them to get away with mistreating customers, especially those who wanted to support them, and for...
Read moreWe are new to south Jersey. So of course I knew the Haitian food wouldn’t have been as great as North Jersey but this restaurant came really close. This is our go-to restaurant and come here all the time. Today was the first time that I ordered the Legume and it came with shellfish. I ordered not one BUT TWO orders. To most seafood lovers this would be heaven, but to me it’s deadly as I’m allergic to shellfish. Because I know Haitian culture, I did not ask for a refund or food exchange. I simply called them to tell them for future reference it would be helpful to let the caller know that their meal contains a FOOD ALLERGEN! The times I’ve ordered legume from there it never contain seafood otherwise I would’ve asked and PAID for something else that I can actually eat. By the end of the conversation sis said click and hung up. No apology let alone the option for a new order. Very poor service. And I wish that this mistake doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. Maybe for future reference they could’ve simply indicated that THIS WEEK the legume contains crab and shrimp. It’s...
