DO NOT EAT HERE. Even 1 start is too many. I wish i took pictures. I love Mexican food; this was not Mexicans. I was sooo excited to try this place. SO BADLY LET DOWN. It was Americanized and even the servers agreed there was not anything really authentic on the menu. Our Server was amazing, so nice and sweet. I ended up just getting simple chickens and cheese with rice and beans. The chickens were rubber, pink and raw served in cheese sauce and onions. Fully uncooked. It was disgusting. I complained to our server and he immediately apologized and took the dish. I appreciated the concerned look on his face and if that was it i would not be writing the review. The manager however is the main reason i am writing this review. She needs to be retrained or fired. She never came up once to apologize or offer a solution. The server came back and offered desserts on the house and I explained I cannot eat here after seeing that raw chicken. He said I understand. We asked for the check, now I am already assuming they will take the raw chicken off our bill. Manager strolls over at the end, "How’s it all going, everything good". I replied, " well no I was given raw chicken." Her response- " Oh yeah we have brand new cooks in the kitchen so they don’t really know yet how to know if chicken is fully cooked but we know, so their learning." Excuse me? So, she is well aware her cooks are not well trained and serving raw food. She did not give one apology. She then proceeds to say "To make this visit better I’m going to do this, will waive the dish off your bill so don’t worry you don’t have to pay." Again taken aback i bit my tongue, so if I didn’t say you served me raw chicken she was going to charge me for it? She then strolls away like nothing. At this point I am livid. Server comes back and goes okay here is your bill, we go 2 drinks, and my boyfriend got fajitas. He again offers a new meal, to which I say no, especially after the manager told me herself her cooks don’t know how to cook. I instead asked for my boyfriends meal to be waived since it s the same thing and we had to go get me food somewhere else. He comes back saying we can’t waive that but we can waive the drink. Okay cool. If he was not so nice, I would’ve made a bigger stink right there and then but how can a restaurant run with cooks who don’t know how tio cook? Serving people raw food and managers strolling around not doing anything at all for customers. I hope the health department checks this place soon. Playa Azteca needs to be shut down serving RAW FOOD and...
Read moreOkay, this is a one-off, but it was something I wanted to bring to light. I've eaten at Plaza Azteca before, and it wasn't bad. But a recent trip made sure I won't be going back.
I went in for the Sizzling Steak Fajitas, and they were pretty good. But I couldn't eat them all, so I took them home, no harm no foul. But when I went to eat them after reheating, I felt something very hard and somewhat sharp in my mouth. At first I figured it was just a missed bit of bone...it was a piece of plastic, very hard, and while not razor sharp, had I bit into it a different way, it could have chewed up my gums pretty fast.
I had a mom who worked in Food Service, and I'm a pretty lenient guy. So I ring up the restaurant to let them know, in case they get more complaints about that kind of thing that night. I said upfront that I wasn't looking for a free meal or anything like that. I just didn't want someone else to go biting into a piece of shatterproof plastic and get their jaw cut up. Now, the manager I spoke with, asked me to send him a picture of it, which I did with a quarter next to it to kind of demonstrate the size of the piece(I'll include the photo here). He was a stand-up guy, and said that the General Manager would be calling me in a few days.
But this is where I can't go back to Plaza Azteca. Like I said, I'm a lenient guy, but I do believe if you SAY you're going to do something, you do it. It's been a week, and I've heard absolutely nothing from this General Manager. I don't know if I was just forgotten about or if he thinks I'm trying to scam a free meal...which would be difficult since I told the Manager on Duty that I didn't WANT a free meal.
Even if it may have come from the nacho chips, since I took those home with me, I dread what would've happened if someone bit into a nacho with that on it, thinking it was just a slightly overcooked piece of tortilla.
I was hoping to kind of write a happy ending to this, at least in my head. But after this, I won't be going to Plaza Azteca again. The one absolute rule in food service, is "Guests should never wonder what exactly they're eating." After last Saturday, I can't say that about Plaza...
Read moreI just had perhaps the craziest interaction with this place. I placed an order via doordash and on the app it says that they would not accept special orders and that I would have to call. I placed the order at 6:41 and it was confirmed at 6:42. As soon as it was confirmed I called the place just as the app said I should. There was maybe a 45 second window where I called waited for them to pick up and was then passed off to another girl named Sophia. I told them that I wanted the sauce on the side and not drenched all over, which I thought was a pretty simple request. She then informed me that my food was already started and that I would have to take it as is which was insane to me considering only seconds had passed since I placed the order. They refused to remake my food and told me that I would have to cancel the order which would result with me not getting my full money back because they were not willing to lose money on the food they had already made. This made absolutely no sense to me because they were going to throw the food out anyway I don't understand why they would not remake the food the way I requested. So instead of being helpful we argued until I ask for a manager and the manager Teresa told me the same thing but just much ruder. She told me next time to call before I place the order because I didn't call fast enough which is insane to me considering I have proof of when the order was accepted and when I made the phone call. Anyways I'm done with this place forever just because a $14 combo meal is more valuable to them than I am. How about you guys just allow special instructions on the app so you can avoid this headache in the future. Also try treating the people who are spending money at your establishment with a little bit of respect. I've never had to fight so hard for something so simple in my life. It's just food guys and you are willing to throw it out but just not willing to make it convenient for me. So I'm thankful that doordash understood my position and was willing to give me a full refund but I'm upset that this restaurant didn't do what was clearly the right thing especially since it...
