Unethical, unsympathetic, and shady business practices.
Our wedding had been booked for over two years and we were so excited to have it at Goosetown Station. Cheryl, the owner, notified us over email 4 weeks before our big day that the event had been cancelled. She said, “hopefully you can find a new venue” as if there would possibly be another venue that could host us on 4 weeks notice in September in Colorado.
You can imagine how difficult it was to call every guest and tell them our wedding had been cancelled - especially our families. Turns out she lied about why she had cancelled our wedding. After telling us that she was cancelling all events due to Covid, she hosted a concert that same day with what looked like more guests than our wedding would have been, not a mask in sight.
Here’s the impact: she ruined what was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives. We had to cancel our catering/entertainment contracts with over half a dozen small businesses. Small businesses which were specifically chosen because they were women-owned and local. They were also counting on this event, and they lost out because of Cheryl and her lack of personal and professional responsibility and humility.
What was the hardest part about this, is that both of our fathers are in poor health and we don’t know if they will be here to walk us down the aisle and see their children get married when we can try this again. It’s a complete nightmare of a situation. How could anyone with any amount of human decency do this to another person?
Just try to imagine how disappointed and devastated we were to have to cancel our wedding, only to learn it was a lie. This business negatively impacts other local businesses and does not treat its customers ethically. Please do not support...
Read moreAfter a perfect wedding day, ending at Goosetown Station for the reception was VERY DISAPPOINTING and STRESSFUL! The venue was sold to us and we signed the contract as an event center, "Goosetown Event Center" had changed its name to "Goosetown Station" and would not allow us to use the entire space as originally agreed. The setup of the furniture and space had changed considerably! Cheryl (owner) would not allow us to move furniture to accommodate our group. They changed the liquor package originally offered, to "by the (very expensive) drink". The bartender serving us was offering shots to the group and took one with them each time, she got so drunk they had to send her home. The owner would not allow us to turn the music up loud enough to hear the music over the talk of a small 40 person crowd, it was even hard to hear the Bride/Groom song and the Mother/Son dance! We were supposed to have use of the space for a full 12 hrs. we had it from 3:00 until 10:00. Cheryl (owner) silenced our party at 8:30 for laughing, dancing and having fun, not out of normal as a night progresses. Saying we were being too loud and the neighbors would call the cops. We were a very tame group of 40 just enjoying a special day. Cheryl was difficult and very unprofessional to work with. A great space but a very difficult owner to work with. I would never recommend it to anyone as long as she is owner of...
Read moreMy family toured multiple venues for months before deciding to host my sisters wedding at Goosetown Station. After making a full deposit and setting up all of the numerous (and extremely expensive) details that go into wedding planning. Including a massive amount of friends and family buying tickets (many of which were nonrefundable) the owner decided to cancel the entire event last minute resulting in thousands of dollars lost between my family and our guests. Please keep in mind the effort that goes into wedding planning (time off work for all guests, outfits, flowers, and catering just to name a few) and for this business owner to cancel on them stating COVID concerns just to turn around and host A CONCERT the same night instead. Not only are these the most greedy and abhorrent business practices I have ever seen but what this business owner did can only be considered as evil. Picture a bride crying on what would have been her wedding day because this business decided to crush her dream last minute for a few extra bucks. Or a father who was depressed for weeks because he never got to walk his daughter down the isle. Not to mention all of our guests that spent what precious little money they had during a pandemic to buy nonrefundable outfits and accommodations that all went to waste. Do not support this establishment or their...
