Ah, where to begin. I am not one for reviews and hate that I am falling into the trap of only leaving a “bad” review. However, in this case, I feel that it is a must. My wife and I have eaten at this establishment religiously since we moved to the area about 2 years ago. Lately, we have even had to limit our visits to once a week to better regulate our sushi intake. With any restaurant, there are likely hit or miss days when they are slower/faster than others. Today, however, we were one of two tables seated for lunch, and our sushi took well over 45 minutes for the first round. I usually try to order all my sushi at once to prevent being there too long, but decided I wanted a few more pieces of nigiri sushi to suppress my appetite. We had arrived at the restaurant around 12:30PM, and it was now 1:15PM. I had a conference call for work at 2PM. However, we live about 5 minutes from the place, and I eat pretty fast. There were no other sushi orders in front of us, so I figured an extra 6 pieces of Nigiri Sushi would not take very long for the chef to prepare. I was wrong. At 1:50PM, I still did not see my sushi on the counter to be delivered to our table. I asked my wife to go ask the server for the check and pay as I left to go start my conference call in the truck. She asked the server if she could get my extra sushi to go, and the server said she would have to ask the manager. This is understandable since it is against their “all-you-can-eat” policy, but extenuating circumstances should have prevailed in this situation. However, the manager denied my wife’s request and, unbeknownst to me, proceeded in charging us an extra $5 for the sushi. My wife returned to the car around 2PM and told me the news. I was furious and left my conference call to go inside to discuss with the manager. I explained to the manager that we eat here all the time (he sees us there every week when he seats us), and that the reason we wanted it to go was that his kitchen took 1.5hrs to make us some sushi for lunch. He had no remorse and even quit paying attention at one point to acknowledge the customer behind me. I left the sushi on the table and told them that I would not be back. It is frustrating that after 2 years, a bogus $5 charge would completely ruin my experience and cause me to write such a review. I understand that times are hard for everyone right now, but the manager should have been upset with the slow chef, not some of his regular customers. Over the last two years, my wife and I have had nothing but praise for the place and have even bragged to our friends over it. The place is never busy, and we tried to promote business so that our favorite local all-you-can-eat sushi joint would survive. However, after our experience today, I can see why they are never busy. To top it all off, the salmon in our sushi today was fatty and gristly. We give them the benefit of the doubt at times if the fish does not seem as fresh as others, as different days of the week may not coincide with their fish shipments. They are a small family-run business and most likely do not get fresh fish but once a week. However, we will not be back after this, especially over the ridiculous $5 charge. If you want mediocre sushi, go there, and hopefully they give newcomers better service than 2-year long customers. Ichiban has recently opened on the other side of airline. While they are not as cheap and do not have an all-you-can-eat option, we have yet to get mediocre sushi from them. They will get our business...
Read moreDecided to take my daughter to try. We arrived shortly after they opened. Seated right away. There were only 2 other tables seated. Waitress came and asked for drinks as we were sitting down. But then the service and experience went downhill fast. We ordered off the lunch menu. I ordered edamame and we each had snow crab salads. The salads were very dry and didn't really have a sauce or flavor. Edamame were under cooked/steamed and were a little crunchy. We each ordered 2 rolls (5 pieces/roll). My rolls were ok, but definitely not anything to brag about. One of my daughter's rolls she liked but didnt like all the eel sauce they put on the other, so she didn't eat most of that roll. Our drinks ran out and our waitress (one of the only 2 they had serving) never came to refill them until I asked for check. Our empty appetizer bowls and plates remained on our table the entire time. Once I asked for the check, a lady (guessing manager or someone) came by our table and asked if there was a problem. I told her no I was just ready for the check. She proceeded to tell me that we needed to eat more of our food or she'd have to charge us for the remaining food on our plate. Ok. Fine I told her, but I'm not eating anymore on my plate. She said oh not you, her (pointing to my daughter). I was losing my patience with this place at this point. I told her she can not make my daughter eat the food that she doesn't like. She said well, it's on the menu that we must charge. Again, fine, I told her that's fine but my daughter didn't like it, so charge us. And I will not be back to this place (for multiple reasons). Oh and I forgot to mention I ordered 2 rolls to go for my husband and other daughter. So its not as if I was trying to order extra to bring home. I wasn't even trying to take the remaining pieces on our plates home. I simply wanted the check (with the extra charges or not) and our to go order so I can finally leave. But this lady argued with me and kept saying "well, it's on the menu". I told her to charge me. I wasn't asking her to not charge me. I can now see why this place is always empty when we go to our usual spot across the lot. Definitely could've been handled differently. I will not be back to this place and will patiently wait for Ichiban's to open, where we will have fresher, tastier sushi (even if the price is a...
Read moreBeware! 0 Stars if I could. We Frequent this place many many times but have had Issues Recently with the Greedy Owners. 1ST issue was with our Party of only (4) during Lunch. We were Charged a Mandatory 18% Gratuity Fee which is usually for Large parties. The Male Asian owner explained his BS reasoning for it as he was our Server too, so we ended up just letting it go. 2ND Issue at a Later date; The Female Asian Owner which was Serving tables had an Attitude to begin with & was Not very Friendly. She took my Order Clearly, Written down & The Order ended up Wrong when brought to our Table. She brought Hibachi Vegetables, Chicken & a Side of Rice(whole order was Wrong). My wife asked to just keep the Order(which Female Owner agreed to), Instead of them just Tossing it in the Trash but Still asked her to bring out our Correct Hibachi order. We ate the Hibachi Vegetables/Chicken but NOT the side of Rice. She comes back to the Table analyzing & says there will be a $5 Charge for the Rice since it was Not eaten. So If We Did Not keep the Order & Sent it back, It was going to be Tossed Out Anyway!?? Also...this was an -All You Can Eat-Lunch too but they want to Charge for Rice not eaten(Not Chicken/Shrimp/Steak), which would make 100% more Sense to charge for. So This was the Last Straw! BEWARE of these GREEDY Owners, They are too cheap to even Hire Servers so that there shows their Greed. If they dont like their Profits/Tips, they Simply need to Raise their Prices instead of taking out extra on Customers in...
