I had heard that Roul's had the best hamburgers in Ascension parish so I had been wanting to put them to the test for some time. I finally got the opportunity. I was running errands when I realized I was hungry and needed to eat. Not wanting to do the usual fast food route, I was crossing Roul's and decided there was no time like the present. Upon entering I was greeted by Sham, and seated and given a menu. The menu is the usual food you'll see in any diner anywhere, plus a few extras like po-boys and seafood options. I didn't even have to look, I ordered the bacon cheeseburger loaded, with fries. Onion rings are an option. My burger was quick to arrive and piled high with lettuce, tomato, pickles, the works on a buttered bun, with a nice sized side of fries. One bite was all it took to confirm that this was the best burger I'd had in years. This was a burger cooked to perfection, loaded with flavor and so juicy, you'll need those paper towels they keep on the table. This was a burger that could have come straight off the grill at a 4th of July picnic. In a word, AWESOME. Next i turned my attention to the fries. Nicely fried and crispy. Sham had given me a small container of a house sauce, the name of which I can't remember, but I used it as a dip for my fries. It's a lot like Caines sauce but with more of a kick. If you're like me and you like spicy, you'll love it. When it was time to pay up, I was equally impressed. The bill was less than $12. Less than $12 for a 1/2 lb. burger cooked perfectly, side of fries and a drink. Can't beat that with a stick. So do yourself a favor, the next time you're in downtown Gonzales, stop into Roul's, there's plenty of parking and plenty of seating. You'll be dang...
Read moreFirst of all, this is the TOUGHEST Roul’s burgers I’ve ever had. They are usually juicy not dry. I reordered my usual online order (lettuce wrapped burger). I arrived for pickup to discover that my burger wasn’t made because they now charge for lettuce-wraps. Lettuce is already a topping, but anyways.. “lettuce-wrapped” was not listed as an additional burger option, so it didn’t cross my mind that it is now an upcharge. Therefore, I proceeded with my usual order, but had to wait for them to fix it AFTER I paid $2.76 for additional lettuce. My shrimp burger has NO lettuce or grilled bell peppers that I requested, and my chicken/shrimp lettuce has no shrimp on one-half and no grilled bell peppers OR CHEESE! but they were SO focused on me paying for the lettuce-wrap. This was also my first time not receiving drinks with my order. Now online orders do not come with drinks; another new discovery. Mind you drinks are usually included for meals: plus online orders are usually higher than in-store items. Maybe things are different based on locations. The cook had on headphones and looked care-free, so I’m sure he didn’t read my order notes fully; the cashier couldn’t really explain what I asked. She said what she was told. I LITERALLY received the hard pieces of the lettuce for my wrap. Smh, this has to be a joke. LSU...
Read moreMy fiance and I finally was able to stop in at Roul's on N. Burnside and so glad we did. The service there was magnificent. The lady at the front counter let us take our time to overlook the menu and didn't make us feel rushed. Any questioned we had she was very knowledgeable and answered with complete respect. We sat and talked while waiting for our food, and watched as the entire team that was working together got out soooo many to go orders. We got our food a short time later and it was absolutely phenomenal. Every single bite was delicious, and hot! As we were leaving, we stopped and dropped some mo ey in the tip jar and the cashier was so sweet and thanked us. I just had to tell the entire crew there, job well done and thank them for our great meal. I have already told so many people about this place. I can't wait to go back and to try other things off the menu. I 10/10...
