Alright, we visited on the 15th of August, roughly around 4:30 pm. It was a little busy, but not the worst I've seen for this location as it's a pretty busy location. Anyways, my partner went to talk to the hostess to learn how long the wait was and was told not long as they just needed to clear a table, and just wait back under the sign; important to note the hostess didn't take my partners name during this interaction. We wait for a solid 10 minutes, as we watch multiple couples that arrive after us talk to the hostess, and then get seated after brief waits. When my partner went back to inquire as to what was going on, the hostess wouldn't look up at her but asked my partner what the name the wait list was under, in which the response was you didn't take my name, you just told us to stand over there... Then the hostess still didn't bother to look at her, asked trivial questions ( like what sign it was we were standing at) then took her name, then sent us right back to the sign we had just been under. Probably two minutes after that, the hostess gave a look to the seater, and both the hostess and seater gave my partner the side eye.... The seater walked us to the table, engaged in the most minimal forced "conversation possible, and we got seated. Now, not a great way to start a dinner, but on top of that the seater didn't seat us with the buns that there was ample of. Normally I wouldn't think anything of it, but the fact she brought them to every single table after us during our stay could be indicative of continued issues.
We get our server, and he seems good. At first, we ask about the buns, and it gets dealt with. We order our meal and appetizer, and all is well. We get our salads quick as per normal, and the appetizer is alil longer after. When the meal comes, my partners is complete, however the Mac and Cheese is cold, and they bring me half my meal, I got my Prime Rib but was told there is a back up on mashed potatoes... I typically don't want to eat my food separately, and about 10-15minutes later, they arrive, given to us by our server after we inquire.
During this time the shift Manager stopped by to ask how our meal is going, where my partner tells her the earlier events, and she assured her that she would give them feedback; however there seemed to be a lack urgency or empathy.
Anyways, I'm probably three bites into the very recently arrived mashed potatoes when the server comes back to asks me if we want to settle the bill, I was clearly annoyed by this and said "no, it can wait until after we are done" Funny thing, you don't even need them to bring the bill, you can yourself at the kiosk at the table, and we did just that after I was fed up, quickly finished up what was remaining.
The Prime Rib itself was not the best, and overall for a place that I normally absolutely LOVE to come to, this was a very unfortunate, lowbrow experience, from the treatment my partner recieved at the beginning from passive aggressive gestures and behaviors, to the food management, to the what I am going to assess as unaware poor etiquette from the server to ask basically " hey are you done" when the remainder of my meal had just arrived....
The four for atmosphere is for the restaurant overall; not the people we had the misfortune of interacting with on this...
Read moreThank you for your quick response and offer of free appetizer. I will definitely be coming back for more food and rolls :) I revised the review for your kind response.
I love Texas Roadhouse. It might be a chain running from Anchorage, AK to Augusta, ME but it’s worth it simply because their sweet rolls are THE best. I don’t give 5 star reviews often but the rolls get the 5th star for me. They are light, fluffy, chewy, sweet, come warm with sweet butter. And Every time I ask with guilt for a 2nd basket they are kind to give it and of course I take 3-4 rolls home because they are so good. I’m glad the rolls and food are made pretty much the same in most states as I travel a lot. The only things I was a bit miffed about: I sat right in front of the waiter for a good 20 minutes with nothing but my silverware and drink before I asked him politely for a basket of rolls. I guess maybe at this Grand Forks location I have to ask? Not sure but usually they bring it to the table for starters. Then i was asked by a nice female manager (?) who was running around making sure everyone had everything they needed and she asked if I needed anything and I told her I was waiting for rolls I just asked for after 20 minutes of sitting here. She was very nice and attentive the whole time. She was the one to ask most of the time if I needed anything throughout the meal and not my waiter who wasn’t inundated with customers. It was pretty late when I went. So the 5 stars is for her great service and kindness and friendliness and for the waiter giving me the extra rolls at the end. The 8oz salmon and shrimp appetizer were a bit salty but I washed it down with the rolls. The best thing in the world. The chili is always good with quality beef with little fat and just enough cumin and the fresh onions and cheese makes it hit the spot. The mac and cheese...I love how the chef made it because the pasta was not soggy or old. It seemed like it was a fresh batch that was just right and almost a bit chewy as I love pasta that way and had lots of cheesy sauce as mac n...
Read moreThis place has really gone downhill the last year. Take a look at the most recent reviews as I’ll add to it. It appears lots of recent reviews have negative reviews!
Took my family out for supper (what would have been supper) on a Saturday. Knowing that it gets super busy, I went online and scheduled us on the wait list. The wait was 15-25mins. We got there and were seating within 5-10 mins with no problems.
The server came and asked for our drinks and we placed them. As she came back within 5 mins, we had our order together and placed it once she dropped the drinks by.
About 20 mins later a new server came and said “due to some tables getting switched, he would be our new server and our order was placed.” Not a problem. During that he asked if we needed anything else, I asked for another Diet Coke and thing of bread. About 5 mins later they came with the Diet Coke and said they were waiting on bread. The tables next to us were just getting seated and their bread showed up. Eventually more bread came. Not a big deal.
45-50 mins came and our food never showed up thereafter. The server never stopped back again. The tables next to us had received their food and were actually finished. I waited a few more minutes and stood up and walked to what appears to be the host. I told them we’d like our tab and wanted to leave. I went to sit back down and wait for our tab (Diet Coke). There were a few people all talking, including the lady I just talked to, and ironically 5 mins later our food showed up. The manager came over and said her apologies. We didn’t eat the food. We left it on the table and went home.
Service has really gone downhill here. We waited for over an hour and watched the folks next to use enjoy their food.
We were regulars here, coming here many times a month, and I can guarantee they won’t care 1 bit we won’t return, but it’s likely we...
