Me and my Wife have been here several times, and it's always a pleasant experience with great food and no complaints. This last time we went we brought her daughter, who is 19 years old but she is very autistic. She wears headphones all day and carries around her pokemon plush animals because they make her feel safe, she gets very bad sensory overload etc... She has a VERY selective palate and is very picky on what she eats but she absolutely loves chicken nuggets. So we checked the menu out online before we arrived and saw they had chicken nuggets, so we went to eat there. We ordered her the chicken nuggets and the waitress said she's not allowed to order that because she's too old to order from the kids menu (she orders off of the kids menu EVERYWHERE we go, no problem). We explained to her about how she is autistic and she won't just eat anything etc...and the waitress goes and gets another waiter because she apparently doesn't understand what we were trying to explain about the autism. Another coworker comes over and says "she wants the chicken nuggets" while looking at my Stepdaughter and started shaking his head no so my Wife jumped in and explained her situation and said if she can't order the chicken nuggets, we're going to take our business elsewhere because she's not going to eat anything else and we aren't going to eat anything either. And he reluctantly said okay she can get the nuggets. She enjoyed the nuggets, and we enjoyed our sushi, paid our bill and left. We've never been to a place that refuses food service based on someone's age, and having to explain her medical conditions was uncalled for to just get some chicken nuggets. This place is great and I recommend it to everyone who hasn't tried it. Me and my Wife will probably not be back for some time after that encounter, we just wish they had handled the...
Read moreJust finished a delicious meal here, and it was a 5/5. We’ve had high end sushi in Los Angeles and this is definitely up there in quality and service. The lobby is very pretty and impeccably clean. It’s also pretty laid back and quiet. Compared to our recent poor Fargo sushi experience, this one knocked it out of the park. Our whole meal only took an hour and our food was ready within 20 mins, cocktails, appetizers, boba teas and all. The taro tea tastes authentic and wasn’t overly sweet which I appreciate, because so many other “taro” flavors I’ve had are really artificially floral and kinda gross. Johnny was a super awesome server and very polite and fast. He also made us laugh taking our IDs and had a great sense of humor. The bartender also made delicious drinks - we had the tokyo tea and pomegranate flirtini - both stellar. The food was beautifully presented and super tasty. The shaggy dog roll is both ours and our kids’ favorites, but all were amazing. Our whole meal with 7-8 rolls, a side of vegetables and teriyaki chicken entree + 3 cocktails and 2 boba teas were 170$, and staff definitely earned their 25% tip. We don’t go out often because we intend to splurge on the art and skill it takes to make a meal like this extraordinary, but we’ll definitely be back and budgeting for another great experience. I’ve also sampled their to-go service for a few rolls, and that came out right on time and was just as good in quality. If you’re celiac/gluten free, you can’t be guaranteed to have no cross contamination when dining out, but staff here really tries and will label/separate your soy sauces and do their best to accommodate an allergy restriction. Thank you so much to counter/serving staff, sushi chefs and hibachi chefs that...
Read more3.5/5 Service was great, and it's one of the most beautiful restaurants in town. There's calming water features inside with a Japanese and bamboo asthetic. The music is a bit off sometimes as it's quiet, and sometimes you may hear a distant cardi B playing in the background, which is slightly off and doesn't quite match the atmosphere. Now for the food. We got some appetizers, and let me say the cream cheese wontons with crab are spectacular and definitely a must get. I personally wasn't brave enough to try the octopus and moved on to their miso soup. Locals know how China Garden has a rice consume soup that they serve before the meal, and Sakura has a miso-style soup that is similar to small cubes of tofu. As someone with a VERY American pallete that I'm not overly proud of, I found the soup slightly off. It wasn't bad it's just that my North Dakota palette wasn't ready for the mix of flavors I got. I left the nori at the bottom as I wasn't fond but did finish the broth. I got the beef fried rice and it wasn't bad at all but it just lacked that spectacularness Asian food typically has. It wasn't bad at all yet nothing spectacular thus a 3.5/5 is awarded. I have only visited once and will update when I find myself back. (A bit spendy but not horrible at all)
((Forgot to add when writing. Service was slow for awhile. We went unchecked for probably close to 20 mins before our food...
