This review is for Norm’s - not the former historic Dairy Creme as most of the other reviews listed here with Google. It’s a new business that just opened in summer of 2025 - same owners as Norm’s in east town of Grand Haven. They took over this City-owned spot when the former ice cream business owners retired last year.
This was my first time to experience what Norm’s on the channel is all about. I was expecting to see and hopeful, that the new business kept at least a couple if not more, classic menu items from the original Dairy Creme as a tribute (they are using the same name after all). Maybe I missed them? Instead, the first largest sign that caught my attention is about what not to ask for (switch cup size or something). Nothing real special struck me on the menu that says ‘welcome to the waterfront in Grand Haven’. I defaulted quickly to their blizzard (DQ branded name). Plenty of okay ice cream for the size filled the cup, but there was about 1 teaspoon of fun mixed in. I could barely find it.
Overall, the teen staff was nice and quick, although there wasn’t a line whatsoever on a steaming hot day. I was also surprised to see two prices for everything - cash or credit. That’s just odd. If you need to charge a fee for credit to make up the shortfall - bake it in.
I’m willing to give Norm’s west another shot, although my first time was a bit blurry like my menu choice pic. Maybe there’re working on their rhythm as a new business in a much busier and touristy area? Summer is here - I’m already missing my weekly...
Read moreVery similar sounding name as another well known ice cream and frozen treat seller.
And, just like them, every bit as good.
In fact, you'll find a few items on the menu at Dairy Creme that the other chain, with the initials DQ doesn't have on their menu.
Such as food items like pork BBQ, Popcorn, and Nachos (with or without chili).
As well as their "Boardwalk Title Sundae", and "Flavorburst" ice cream cones and cups.
Plus, you get a get great view of Lake Michigan itself sitting nearby.
Simply put, after my first-time experience there yesterday, I can find no fault with Dairy Creme.

Read moreMy go to place for soft serve ice cream in GH! One of the few places you can still find the flavor burst soft serve. Definitely something for everyone!! It's almost impossible to go wrong with any of the recommendation!
Edit: Now under new ownership it appears. Ice cream is still the same and delicious, but the sizes have drastically changed in the last year. A warning would have been nice before I ordered a medium, which turned out to be at least an entire pint of ice cream. At least they gave me a bowl and a spoon to go...
