Side Bar Artisan Coffee — Restaurant in Grand Haven

I’ve been here a few times with my family after moving away from the area and have loved it every time. The beer, the atmosphere, the darts, you name it. I’m exceptionally picky about coffee as a former barista, and they are my go-to when I’m back in town every single time.

What really sold me, though, was a phone interaction I had during COVID-19. Being that I don’t live with my parents, it’s not currently safe for me to visit for Mother’s Day. Instead, my siblings and I decided to send mom on a sort of scavenger hunt to different shops around town for curbside pickup. Obviously, starting the day with coffee is a must! I called in to place an order for pick up to purchase over the phone and spoke with a somewhat befuddled man (it was a strange request, after all), but once I explained what I was trying to do he happily helped!

My mother just picked up her coffee and said it’s absolutely delicious. Thank you for helping us start off a great celebration!

The best place in Grand Haven to grab a hot drink, put on some headphones, and get to work. My book club also meets here once a month! Versatile place where you can focus or socialize.

Tons of seating, both indoor and outdoor. Love the wood features, exposed beams, and eclectic retro lights. Very "Instagram-able."

Their Madcap coffee is great, but what I am obsessed with is their decaf turmeric oat milk chai latte. So warm and cozy!

If you want something cool and refreshing, go for one of the Lively Up kombucha's they have in the fridge...if they have the Watermelon Mint flavor you...

The Odd Side Sidebar has a nice ambience and a pleasant atmosphere, but the matcha was a big disappointment. Both my daughter and I ordered matcha lattes—mine unsweetened with almond milk, hers sweetened—and both were very watered down and lacking flavor. Even though we ordered them iced, they were served warm with ice in them. The barista told me she wouldn’t charge extra to add honey, but I was still charged.
