My boyfriend also left a review but I would like to leave one too. Yesterday we stopped by, they had music playing and tables out with a sign that said seat yourself. I had just gotten some ice cream and went to walk in and there's an older lady that I didn't even think worked there at first since she was just sitting and playing on her phone. she urgently waved me away and said no outside food. Totally understandable, but her tone, along with her side eyeing me while I finished outside the gate like I was loitering or something made the interaction uncomfortable. I told my boyfriend to grab and table and I'd come sit when I was done. So I threw it away, sent a friendly smile her way, and sat down. 30 second later, after staring some more, she came over and said she needed to see our ID's, staring at me in an accusatory manner. I didn't have mine, but I wasn't planning on getting anything. My boyfriend caught her tone and how it didn't make sense why she'd ask for our IDs now since he's been sitting there awhile and she didn't ask, she didn't ask at the door, and it's a restaurant with food for all ages, as well as it only being 7pm so i wouldnt think it would be time for 21+ only yet, if they have that. she was also obviously not a server. My boyfriend said wed just leave and she laughed in amusement and told us to have a good one. She seemed to have an issue with me the whole time. Its was very unfriendly and unwelcoming.
There was only 2 reasons I could think of that she was like that to me, a) I had a t-shirt on and swimming suit bottoms, maybe she found that inappropriate? I had just came from the beach down the road and figured it'd be okay since i saw others wearing theirs around. And b) I'm clearly mexican. I don't like to pull the race card, maybe she's just a rude person, but I did see other reviews also saying they had racist experiences.
Shout out to Smokey Jose's where we went after! They were super kind and...
Read moreMy girls and I are from out of town and we were hungry from along drive and stopped in here. It was very unwelcoming and unfriendly. The locals were the ones who got my girls coloring pages and answered questions. As a former server/bartender of 8 years I'm not one to write a review unless I really think one is needed. The first server we had never checked on us and when I had to wave her down for sourcream for my burrito she seemed very bothered. She seemed bothered the whole time we were there and we we're in and out with only one ask the whole time. My kids were good and there wasn't even a mess left. She walked right past us and never asked us anything or had any type of conversation to be friendly. Then she just disappeared and we had a different server. I know the bar is busy at times but the unfriendly environment doesn't make being busy an excuse to feel very unwelcomed. Not sure if it was because I had small children or that's just how they are day to day.I wouldn't say this place is kid friendly or a place I'd go with the whole family. More of a quick place to grab a drink or food with your spouse or friends. Food was decent. I still tipped because I'm not cheap but I sure wish I didn't. not a place we'd return to do to the unfriendly and...
Read moreI’m a local and have visited Tip numerous times with good experience. Last night, however, has made me totally change my viewpoint. I had a group of eight with me. We reserved a table and waited for over an hour because it was so busy. When we arrived at the bar we were supposed to have two tables, however another group took one of our reserved tables. We were told to sit/stand at a 4-seated table instead. I noticed that a table that had 8 seats was completely empty with a single backpack on the top. I gently removed the backpack on the floor so that some of us could sit there. I was met with a waitress screaming and threatening to kick me out for touching someone’s personal belongings. I apologized and calmly asked why she was kicking me out. She proceeded to harass and threaten me. At this point the entire bar was listening in on the conversation. Embarrassed, I sat down with my group at our 4-seat table. She came to apologize and when I told her that the situation could have been handled differently she threatened to kick me out of the bar again. Endless to say, I left the bar extremely embarrassed and surprised that a waitress would scream at someone for a minor offense. I’ll likely never...
