I have lived in or around GR my whole life & have always loved Angel's Thai. Recently I have transitioned to a whole foods, plant based diet & ate here for the first time since my switch. I've learned when it comes to eating out this way, it is essential to check online menus. Well, I learned today the importance of asking BEYOND what's on the menu. Warning to WFPB & vegan peeps - the Drunken Noodle, though the menu does not mention it, has eggs in it. At least, mine did. This is definitely my own fault for not asking about it, but still, I find it odd that they listed out eggs as an ingredient for every other dish with eggs in it except this one??
In addition, the portion sizes used to be very large a year or so ago (last time I was there), but now they're substantially smaller. Prior to this time, I'd always have enough for my meal & leftovers to take home! Which isn't a huge deal, but like... I don't know, I guess I had some level of expectation that I'd have more.
Lastly, the prices on their menus are not correct. They have lunch priced on their website as $7.95 with the protein choice of tofu, but yet my total was $10.34!? That is SO irritating to me, especially because the portion was so much smaller, so I literally got less for more money. AT LEAST they need to update their menu pricing. I feel duped!
All in all, I can find soooo many more places downtown to spend $10.34 with better value. The flavors are delicious, the waitresses are INCREDIBLY SWEET, but I was very disappointed in my experience overall. Very...
Read moreMy friend and I walked into the establishment on New Year's Eve, around 4:20. The sign on their door said they were closing at 5. Now, with no prior mention, they instructed us that they were only serving take out orders. A common practice, I assume, and took no issue with. I happily understood, although, annoyed, because they just sat a 7 seat who had yet to even order when we walked in. I equally and fully understood that they had a reservation and could not be refused. What I am upset about is the service received. We ended up waiting 30 minutes for our food, which in itself isn't a problem (I believe that's about normal), but during this time, sitting at their table, they couldn't have been bothered to even offer us water. They are open during a very busy time on a very busy day in downtown gr (100 people at the skating rink within eyesight of the restaurant, etc), and yet, couldn't accommodate a simple two top? Okay.. And to boot, the "server" acted completely unprofessional and unprepared and sounded a bit as though he would have preferred we leave, giving us with a horrible impression of him; and the establishment. Had they just sat us, I would have easily tripled my bill. I even told the server that I was struggling trying to find something that would travel well; and blatantly came out and said that I would be ordering three times the amount of food, had we been allowed to stay. I will not be going back. That server has ruined our otherwise positive outlook of...
Read moreLast night my Gf and I had arrived here and right when we walked in we were told that we weren't allowed to sit down because they were closing at nine. We arrived at 7.45pm. I find this to be absolutely absurd. They said they were only doing take out. So we ordered take out and walked around for five minutes or so. It was now 8.10 and we came back to check the status of our food and it was done. I find it kinda weird that we weren't able to sit down but our food was done in 15 minutes. So we got our food and left. We went next door for frozen yogurt and by the time we were done Angel's Thai was closed at 8.25pm and the hostess was sitting on her phone. This is bulshit. Where on your website does it say we won't be able to seat you when its 8pm? It doesn't, so thanks for the false advertising that you stay open till 8 at night. We will not be returning to you guys. Although we like the food we were not happy with the service and the fact that we couldn't sit down because the waitress wanted to sit on her phone rather than make money. We will not be returning to your establishment and I hope you do something about your...
