Steenstra's Royal Dutch Bakery — Restaurant in Grandville

Here’s our feedback for Steenstra’s and anyone else looking to visit a bakery. We will never be ordering from Steenstra’s again and would recommend the same for anyone else who hopes for reliable customer service and accurate information for their needs, such as a cake order. Find somewhere else you can TRUST and with the patience and professionalism to appropriately handle any issues that may arise - especially when the business is responsible for gross misrepresentation, which was the case in our experience with Steenstra’s. They took zero culpability for their wrongdoing. We would further add that the owners actually hid behind their manager, who didn’t even have any answers without first asking the owners each question in back. Despite being made fully aware of the circumstances of our experience, the owners entirely avoided taking responsibility and remained unseen, only feet away behind the wall and even with an open door. The owners did not show any concern for the customer(s), nor were they capable of holding a conversation about the way their business was directly conducted and subsequently portrayed, even if only to apologize! This is the biggest reason we will never back.

Rather, we cannot speak highly enough of our experiences with Marge’s Donut Den. We also learned that Marge’s is open on Sundays, unlike Steenstra’s. Staff at Marge’s take the time to help us and provide reliable answers to our questions, like in the process of ordering a personalized cake. Even if Marge’s service was merely adequate, or subpar, that would still be saying far more than what we now know about Steenstra’s. Do yourself a favor and support small businesses, like Marge’s Donut Den, who actually care about the small moments and the little people who do so much to keep them...

The best thing about my son's cake is they decorated it perfectly! A+ it's exactly what we were looking for. I used them in the past for my son's titanic cake and they did so good I wanted to use them for this special one but though the design was wonderful everything else was a little disappointing. I ordered a full size which is huge and they said there was no way they could do half chocolate half white. I find that odd because it's a common request. A # of my guest asked for white and didn't eat because they dislike chocolate. We picked it up 24 hours before the party and no one had seconds because it tasted dry. We have so much cake left over I don't even know what to do with it besides toss it. Sad since we paid $70. Thankfully my 8 year old is overjoyed because of the design but if I were buying a cake for adults I would probably...

Lovely little bakery! The staff is always so friendly and the baked goods never disappoint me. If you're not sure what to get, or like me always try to look for a menu before hand due to being indecisive, I have two delicious suggestions. First, the first visited I got the Date cookie! Which is sweet and a little savory! Second, another of my favorites has been the carrot muffin, which was spongy and had baked nuts on the inside, so for anyone who has allergies I would ask and clarify!
