Used to be one of my preferred go to locations however quality has really dropped. Wait time is now almost aways present no matter the time you arrive. Foodwise the biggest drop in care ive seen ever, the aju will leave you drier than a desert with how salty it was, however you can balance that out with the fries that will be left unsalted! Our hostess gave us our drinks after 15 minutes of waiting at our booth, only for us to watch as a man that ordered after us get his food 20 minutes before us. Our server told us the fish takes less time to make than the sandwiches me and my party had requested when we said something, ticket order in that kitchen doesnt seem to matter I suppose. To top that off, She took our cups while over half full and left for 10 minutes before bringing back the wrong drinks. I've never had my glass taken while getting a refill here before especially while im in the restroom, including the fact it was not empty and I was getting one of the non-free refilled beverages, all of it was pushy.
Interestingly enough, I heard from the back room the servers talking to eachother saying that everyone was getting mad that night, I found that rather unsurprising just given the oddness of my own meal. After getting our food and discovering it wasnt worth an ounce I communicated with a manager who bombarded me with trying to give me a pie to smooth things over. She gave me 20 options in the span of 5 seconds and then laughed when I told her that was overwhelming. Do not come to Black Bear if you have issues with stimulation, zero of the staff will be helpful. Incredibly unimpressed. I paid half price for "eating half" despite the fact both me and my party stopped eating 3 bites into disappointment.
I have never been treated so poorly by this establishment. I suppose there eye for quality is aligning with other projects. I will not...
Read moreI am a local patron. I have never written a review before, but My mother & I were so disappointed with our to go order I had to write this, especially after reading the other to go order reviews. We have eaten in this restaurant many times & the food & service has always been very good, but I do not recommend ordering to go orders. Our order was over 53.00, which I knew ahead of time, but I figured it would be worth it due to my experience of dinning in. Well needless to say, whom ever packed up our to go order obviously had no care, or no prior experience. My moms 15.00 Caesar salad was packed on top of my biscuit’s & gravy so it made her lettuce all warm & wilted, also the large salad came with one small container of dressing. Not nearly enough for half the salad. She also ordered a baked potatoe that was microwaved & came with a little to go container that was half full of sour cream. No chives. Two very tiny packs of butter (like a quarter teaspoon total). No salt or pepper packs provided. She was suppose to get a regular milk & I a chocolate milk. We got two chocolate milks. I ordered 2 pancakes which came with the same 2 tiny packs of butter, but did come with two large containers of syrup which was not necessary for two pancakes. My biscuits & gravy was very tasty, but not enough gravy so I was only able to eat a half biscuit. For some reason we got a container of tarter sauce. We did not order fish. The sausage that came with my pancakes was the best sausage I ever had. That’s Why I gave at least one star. Needless to say I will not order take out ever again with Black Bear restaurant. Sooooo...
Read moreHonestly, this review is going to be one of the most genuine things I've ever written. I've had severe allergies since 2nd grade, and it's been an absolute struggle to find places that actually accommodate and care enough to help you find something you can eat. I didn't catch the ladies name who served and helped me and my friend today. There is a lot I can say, but nothing will quite carry the feelings and emotions of all the years I've spent having my allergies and worries be tossed aside in restaurants, only to have these amazing people take the time to listen and actually make sure the food we both needed and wanted is what we got. I've never had an experience like this before, and I doubt I ever will again. Everyone I talked to was very cordial and especially kind. I won't forget this, and I genuinely hope more people meet these folks and have the same experiences.
To the lady with the awesome tattoos and incredible soul, both me and my friend say thank you. To the chef who took the time to warn us about the possibility of cross-contamination on the grill, I say thank you for potentially saving my life and anyone else's who your vigilance will save. A final thank you to the manager/owner who was very kind and maybe hired these wonderful people. I can't thank all of you enough for the time we spent there today. If you want a great place to eat and you suffer from allergies of any kind, I HIGHLY recommend this...
