Owner is calling me a liar, so allow me to explain in detail what happened to my children because of this inconsiderate woman at her little dessert establishment:
My family came in at 6 pm for what we hoped would be a nice dinner and dessert with the kids. My boys were very excited to get ice cream after dinner. I walked in to hear the city council meeting blasting on the dessert side. I waited at the counter to order a tres leches cake in case they were closing soon because I knew they close earlier than the restaurant does. We weren’t acknowledged after a few minutes had passed, but I noticed the menu said she closed at 7pm so we had time to get dessert afterwards.
We moved on to order some dinner. About 10 minutes in, my 5-year-old needed to use the restroom. He was twisting his legs, and bouncing up and down because he couldn’t hold it. The woman who runs the postre side wouldn’t let him use the restroom because she was cleaning them. Side note: the chemical smell was so strong that I stunk up the entire building and I came home smelling like cleaner for an hour before the smell finally subsided. That’s probably not healthy.. Anyway, she wouldn’t let this poor kid use the toilet despite his emergent situation. So my husband had to take him outside in the 30 degree winter weather to pee on a tree.
Another 10 minutes or so had passed and my three-year-old son had to use the restroom. He also was worried about not making it. This time, I went to check on the restroom status. The woman said the bathrooms aren’t done yet. I said my toddler desperately needs to go, can he please just use the toilet? She said not unless he wants to pee on the chemicals. I asked if we can flush the chemicals. She said no, he needed to wait 5 minutes. I couldn’t take him outside because he gets sick very easily and I didn’t want to expose him to the freezing temps. So we sat at the table for 5 minutes but he was crying and couldn’t hold it anymore. So we waited the 5 minutes like she told us to and walked back. The lady at the Tamales Con Alma counter asked if we were okay? I told her my son couldn’t hold it anymore. So the nicer lady said we could use her private restroom which is in the same area. We thanked her and moved toward the restrooms to meet the cleaning woman irritated with hand on hip. Meanwhile, my son is holding hist crotch, crossing his little legs, and boucing up and down to try to hold it in. I told her my son couldn’t hold it anymore and that we were told we could use the other toilet. The woman said we needed to wait. I said no, my son cannot hold it! We already waited. He could have an accident on the floor or she could let him use the other toilet. She storms off saying we don’t respect her job or her work. What? You’re trying to make ME feel bad in this situation?? No, this mama will stand up for her small children. I said, “Excuse me? Why are you even cleaning the restrooms right now? You need to keep them open for the customers to use.” She said she was closed. I said, “Your sign says that you close at 7. It’s not even 6:30.” She yells at me, “Do not disrespect me!” I replied, “Clean the bathrooms after you’re actually closed!” We finally made it to the restroom where my son definitely needed to go. How could she treat children like this? As an adult, fine, I will wait. It’s ridiculous that she is closing the only bathroom so what, she can go home early? Also, my family didn’t want to be forced to listen to the city council meeting while trying to enjoy dinner next door. By the way, while this whole thing was happening there were other customers waiting and waiting for her to just pay attention to them so they could order dessert. They were irritated for having to wait forever. There is no bell to ring. Then they had to witness a what could have been avoided situation from an unprofessional owner.
Here's a thought- Close this postre disaster to give the tamale restaurant more space so that you can retire since you seem to not like...
Read moreI really do not like to give low or bad reviews. Though I think it should be brought to attention. The ice cream side of this establishment was not our best experience. I had an ice cream sundae, 2 scoops of ice cream, nuts and whip cream. Chocolate sauce instead of hot fudge? That should have been a red flag, though partially my fault for accepting it. Ice cream was lacking flavor, no peanuts for a sundae, no hot fudge & poor quality ice cream. In one of the best parts of the country for creameries. The rest of the establishment & very friendly staff is what gives this place its charm. I would frequent here again & get a Mexican dessert if I were to come back...
Read moreWe ordered elote and fruit platters for my son’s birthday last summer and wow what a wonderful experience! Gabby went above and beyond to be sure each condiment and topping was packaged with care and even gave us cute little shakers to put out for the tajin and bottles of chamoy! The fruit was fresh and so delicious, and the elote was a big hit at the party for people who haven’t tried it before.🌽 Gabby takes so much pride in producing delicious food for your gatherings and it shines in everything that she does. We appreciate her and will be ordering from Los Postres again for his...
