I feel the need to preface my review with the caveat that I work in service and have done so for more than 15 years. We're extremely easy to please and have complete understanding for the trials and difficulties presented in the current industry climate. However, our experience was so surreal that I felt compelled to leave my first negative review...
We were sat immediately, staff was friendly and accommodating to wanting to be sat outside with our dog. Menus and water were soon delivered, drink orders taken and delivered in a timely fashion. The young man taking drinks/delivering drink orders was extremely polite and prompt. The main server started out that way, but made a complete 180°. Our food order was taken and appeared to be input into a portable tablet that the server audibly mentioned had connection issues. No explanation was ever given, but it eventually became clear that our food order never made it to the kitchen. Multiple tables were sat after us. They ordered. They received their food. They finished their food. We waited almost 50 min after ordering before I walked inside to inquire about the whereabouts of our meals. 3 different servers told us they would check on our order but no one returned. We were finally told "only 2 more minutes!" After this we were repeatedly asked if we wanted to order more drinks, to which we responded no thank you, we would just like our meals. Another 10 minutes go by and our food is finally delivered. Our main server (maybe the manager on duty? Dark hair salt/pepper beard) came by and offered to comp us 2 more mimosas, but offered no apology, explanation or acknowledgement as to why that would even be necessary. Our bill was delivered after asking for it twice, we were informed, once again, that the 2 drinks we didn't even order were comped, as well as a 25% discount, neither if which we asked for. We never had the opportunity to express our disappointment in person because after the bill was delivered every employee seemed to disappear. No one on staff came back outside for the duration of our time there. We were clearly frustrated and unhappy. Customers around us even made comments as to how they had also waited an exorbitant amount of time to even place an order. We visit Grant's Pass often and were excited to try out a new place with what seemed like promising new owners, but were met with a really poor experience. The cooks are doing a great job, our food tasted excellent, but we unfortunately couldn't even enjoy it due to such a lack of attentiveness from...
Read moreCan you say PERFECTO? 😋 I have been living in the Grants Pass area part-time for over 20 years and have eaten at every place possible (I love to eat!) So I can be a bit picky about the details... A friend invited me to Lu Lu's for a business breakfast meeting and from my first visit it has become my favorite spot and for good reason.
1- The food is CONSISTENTLY exceptional! (Don't miss their gluten free bread - taste better than most breads I've ever had WITH gluten!) I had a full on traditional breakfast with eggs over easy, sausage & bacon, toast and coffee- My GOD! Their coffee is unreal! I've actually become addicted to it and honestly find myself waking up craving it! They have specialty coffees and all that fancy stuff, but I just go for their Americano- TRUST ME - if you're a regular coffee person you will never forget their wonderful coffee ( but forget finding out where they get it- it's a secret, and that just fine with me! My friend is a health nut and eats organic and Paleo and all that, he had the Paleo pancakes and they also created a custom scramble thing from veggies for him that was awesome! Keep in mind that while their menu is brief yet wonderful, they will bend over backwards to whip together whatever suits your fancy. Cant say enough good things about their food- They also have some French doughnuts the make fresh for you (I forget what you call them... anyway... just BUY THEM!!! The most delicious light dessert I have ever had.
2- The people are extremely courteous, helpful and caring. 3- The place itself is clean and comfortable.
4- The atmosphere is always friendly, relaxing nurturing.
5- Prices? Well, places like this typically get to charge whatever they want because they certainly earn it- but don't worry, extremely reasonable and I would even go as far as saying, inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food they provide.
Overall from 1-10 An overwhelming 10! With a BIG HUG! For the individuals who took the time and care to plan this place out- From the chilled clean water they quickly bring to your table, to their organic flavor busting coffee and everything else I've already mentioned, they do a sensational job of providing a memorable dinning experience that will keep you going back every chance you get! WELL DONE! 😋 I just reread my post, I sound like one of those...
Read moreMe and the wife went to Lulu's for breakfast, and the wife ordered biscuits and gravy, and I ordered country steak and eggs. Her breakfast was fine, but mine had some serious issues. Everything on my plate was very well prepared except the star of the meal. The steak was bloody as hell. I had eaten every item on the plate before a lady finally came over to ask how things were. 20 minutes after we were served. It took 20 minutes to check on how food was.. I told her about the raw steak and said to her that had I known that it was going to be the kind of place that does a country fried steak where it comes out prepared like this I would have ordered it either different or something else. I also said that the menu should state to order by done-ness. Every other place in the world prepares country fried steak cooked well done with a crispy batter. She told me "well you should have sent it back, and we would have re-made it." Im thinking ok. Had someone checked on us in a few minutes that could have happened.. But I didn't want to turn it into a pissing match. I told her that I wasn't asking for anything and I would pay for it completely, but I would not be coming back again. (I didn't know i was ordering beef Wellington!) She left, and a few minutes later, a guy came to the table (I assume the owner by his demeanor) and took the plate and said, "I'll get this out of your way!" And took off to inspect it as he went and grumpily slammed it into a garbage can... ok, cool... but if things were in the way on the table, then why didn't the guy take my wife's plate too? I watched them huddling and discussing as the guy was changing the ticket in their computer. The waiter, (different guy) brought over the bill. I seen they removed the $22 meal from the bill. The new total was $12. I promptly pulled out $34 and gave it to the waiter and said "I told her I would pay for it" and we left. You know, just because ownership thinks something is good, doesn't mean the patrons think its good. Aside from the above, it's winter outside and raining. Turn up the heat in the place man! For the prices they are charging, they can turn up the heat. But it's all good. I'm happy to...
