This place had been on our radar for a while. We were walking around downtown Grapevine a few weeks ago and took a short detour from the south end of Main Street only to find out... they were closed because it was a Monday! sad trombone
Anyway, we were there again today because my nerd son wanted to go to the Warhammer store and his nerd dad was only too happy to take him. Meanwhile, my decidedly-not-nerd wife remembered BreadHaus and so we made another quick detour and they were open! Hooray!
If you're like me and bakeries instantly put you in your happy place, then run-don't-walk to BreadHaus. This place is a German-style bakery par excellence! Lots of unique items to choose from, whether you want bread loaves or pies to bring home, or a simple streusel or Bavarian pretzel to munch on while you stroll downtown Grapevine! We were on a mission for the Bourbon Chocolate (Pecan) Pie and managed to snatch what I think was the last one. Also picked up a piece of their blueberry streusel and a chocolate mini-cake for the kids.
Okay, you know how a lot of times, "Pecan pie" is just a glob of sugary sludge in a bland crust with a few pecans tossed on top? This is why we can't have nice things, people. Well let me introduce you to the most amazing and perfect and Pecanny pie ever. It was outstanding! The helpful worker at the counter let us know that their pies can stay out on the counter top "for up to two weeks" and we just laughed. Bless your heart, this pie won't last for two days. Amazing. If you look at the picture I've provided, you may also note that they sell their pies in glass pie dishes -- bring them back for a discount on your next pie! Brilliant! I don't know if it actually makes the pie taste better, but let's just assume that that's part of the magic. We will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was my first time trying their bread. The waste was decent. I only rate this store with ONE STAR for their product because they treated their new customer "me" so RUDE! Here's what they did: one of their employees came out while I was outside the parking lot and asked me this: "Excuse me, is this your car? (he pointed at my car), and I said "yes?." He then said, "can you move it away from the front door?" and I told him, "well, if I can make my car start, then I would be happy to do it." In the back of my mind, this store is so selfish, rude, and doesn't care about their customer. and to think, I was just there (parking) for less than an hour when they approached me. For the first time, my car just won't start, so I called AAA for assistance, I went (walked) to the nearest gas station to buy a battery for my key fab, just in case it will solve the problem. While waiting for help, that's what they did to me (their customer). Where's what I can say: If they don't want your customer to park in a certain area, you should put up a sign or blockage and please do not forget to also put this sign "No Parking for more than 30 minutes!" I was really not a happy customer and I will not go back to this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been coming here for years and absolutely loved this place! The previous owners made authentic baked goods that were delicious! When the new owner took over, prices immediately went up and recipes have started to change.
As a vegan, this place was so amazing because we could enjoy almost everything and it was healthier than other sweet treats. Now with the new owner, they use smattering of butters and other unhealthy ingredients making most of our favorites not only unhealthy, but also not vegan.
What is worse, they changed recipes but DID NOT update their website listings or even inside the bakery signs and it wasnāt until I went in to order that I found out they no longer offer most vegan options I have come to love. (Website still not updated as of posting so vegans donāt be fooled!)
Their move to advertise āhealthier ingredientsā but adding butter shows a disconnect. So sad after many years of authentic and delicious foods, new ownership lost the heart of what made this place great. Extremely disappointed Grapevine resident here and...
