I was looking for a quiet place to have breakfast while waiting for my flight to board, and came across Le Medeleine's. I saw a secluded seat in the back and checked out the menu and thought 'this is the place'. I ordered the French Country Breakfast, got my coffee and sat down to enjoy a quick respite from the hustle and bustle of the concourse area. The breakfast was AMAZING with everything cooked to perfection and it was my first to try the Potato Galette - all of it was absolutely delicious. However, soon after I noticed how unusually loud the music was and it became increasingly uncomfortable. Yes, even classical music at a high volume can be uncomfortable. I also noticed people around me were having difficulty hearing themselves and there were frequent 'what?' and repeats and raised voices to be heard.
I then spoke to an employee and requested if the music could be turned down as at times the music was painfully loud. She replied that they had no control of the volume of the music and there was nothing they could do. I suggested that surely there was a volume knob on the equipment that they could adjust and her response was that they no way to adjust the volume and the volume was set by 'corporate policy'.
I returned to my seat and decided to run a sound volume meter app on my phone and was not surprised to see that after a few minutes the average level was in the 60db range which is the 'conversation' level. That's like having someone constantly speaking to you in your ear at a level that is no longer 'in the background' as restaurant music should be. After about 10 mins of recording, the measurements showed a level of 78db had been reached - that's louder than a vacuum cleaner! - and approaches the level of a garbage disposal, dishwasher, food blender, etc,
Le Medeleine! Your food is GREAT, but one cannot enjoy it when you're blasting our ears with such loud music! I must you have it so loud? I resorting to finishing my breakfast using my noise-cancelling headphones, which absolutely ridiculous that I had to resort to that. I saw others in the restaurant with headphones on as well.
Please...

After being stuck in the airport for several hours, I decided to go and search of a Dr Pepper. After numerous failed attempts, decided that I would just have to settle for a Coke. The lines and most of the restaurants and convenience stores for extremely long.
I saw a refrigerated cooler in the front of this restaurant and did not see anyone in line. When I walked into the restaurant, I immediately saw a self-service check out.
Best thing EVER! I was in and out of the store, paid in full & credit card replaced in wallet in under a minute flat! Best experience service in ANY airport business I’ve ever had! I liked it so much, I repeated it a few minutes later for my sister-in-law 😜😜😜! Guess what, same thing happened again! Doing things yourself is the ONLY way to ensure things are done correctly and in a timely manner!!
So glad this location had the self-serve option! Not sure I’ll be back — but that’s not a reflection on the business — just unsure if I’ll be traveling...
Read moreHad a Caesar Salad and quiche while in-between flights. We opened the salad and discovered that the lettuce was all brown-tinged. This was all pre-made by the way. Did not have time to go back to the counter as it was now much busier and we had a connecting flight. I messaged La Madeleine on the customer service portal. Very diplomatic mind you. No response. A week later, messaged again and no response. I wrote a letter to the corporate headquarters and received a call from a very apologetic gentleman who asked for my email address. Two weeks later I got another call asking if I had received anything. No I said and again, an apology and assurance was given. Two weeks later and I received nothing. I subsequently wrote another letter and two weeks later I still have heard nothing. I really don't mind the seven or eight dollars, but I don't like having my time wasted. A complete lack of customer care. Never setting foot in La Madeleine...
