First time trying the beef & sausage combo. Didn't like it at all. I spoke to the manager asking him how i could make it taste better. He offered me hot peppers and more gravy or what i know more commonly as au jus and said it would be no problem to switch out to something else instead if i still didn't like, as he wanted me to be pleased with my visit. Well the additions didn't help. I feel like the flavors of the 2 different meats clash and i didn't like the snap of the sausage skin vs the soft bread and soft chopped beef. I just took off the sausage and boom, back to what i like. Plain ol Italian beef is where it's at. I also tried the new salted caramel spice cake. Bad idea. Whoever decided to put that kind of frosting on a spice cake needs to go back to the drawing board because it was not good. Im used to pumkin spice muffins or carrot cake so I was good with the cake part but as soon as I tasted the frosting by itself, I knew thats where they went wrong. HUGE FLAVOR CLASH They need to reintroduce it with plain ol creamcheese frosting...dassit!!! Now in this instance I immediately went back up and asked for the manager who immediately obliged my request to swap desserts. The service here is great thats for sure.

As someone born and raised in New Jersey—the true home of the Italian sausage sandwich—I had high hopes when I saw this classic dish on the menu at Potrillos in Grapevine, Texas. In NJ, a proper Italian sausage sandwich is a thing of beauty: sizzling hot sausage straight off the grill, nestled in fresh, crusty bread, and smothered with sweet peppers, onions, and a touch of marinara. It’s hearty, flavorful, and hits all the right nostalgic notes. Unfortunately, this version missed the mark entirely. The sandwich was served cold, the bread was far from fresh, and the overall flavor resembled something more like a frozen meal hastily warmed up. It lacked the soul and authenticity that makes this sandwich such a staple back home. To make matters worse, the price didn’t match the quality—it felt overpriced for what was delivered. The saving grace, and the reason I’m giving this a generous 2 stars instead of 1, was the cheese fries. They were absolutely delicious—crispy, cheesy, and perfectly seasoned. If you’re looking for a true Italian sausage experience, this sadly isn’t it.

Knowing how busy Portillo's in Chicago and the Colony have been, we were amazed to come by at lunchtime today, Friday, to discover we were first in the drive through line. In fact, the only car in line. Perhaps it was just 11 a.m. The line at Portillo's in the Colony during its grand opening week took us at least an hour to wait through. Sounds crazy doesn't it? That's why the one in Grapevine should be a joy and a must if you want to get your food quickly. The beef sandwich and hot dog were delightfully tasty. The chocolate milkshake was also flavorful. The young lady taking our order was friendly and careful reviewed our order for accuracy. This was our second visit to Portillo's Grapevine. The first was several months ago just after it opened. We hope business picks up so more people have an opportunity to appreciate how good the beef and hot dogs are. If you get the beef sandwich, be sure to dip it into the juice which is a cross between au jus and gravy. They call it Italian beef gravy.

First time trying this place. Honestly, just really craving a hotdog and of course the mind-reading FBI agent in my phone had this place show up immediately on my doordash account. I admittedly went a little reckless on my first order, like a kid who was handed 100$ bill and told to go crazy. Sometimes adulting needs moments like these, anyways, I digress. I got 2 hotdogs, Chili Cheese Dog and the main one, forgot the name with all the onions and mustard and tomatoes. I also got a Strawberry Shortcake and some fries with cheese sauce because i was on my way to a heart attack anyways, so i was gonna go hard. I was of course only a few dollars off from getting money off deal so I ordered a Breaded Chicken Sandwich too.

First hotdog was the Chicago one and it was mouthwatering. like I moaned embarrassingly loud. I decided to stop midbite and try the fries.... the crispy delicious morsels of delight dipped in the golden cheese nectar of the gods. Stopped eating those because how is all of this stuff so delicious and then opened the Strawberry Shortcake and took a bite. record scratch HOW IS THIS THING SO DELICIOUS!?!?!?! I'm gonna go broke. This is supremely evil to make me fall in love with an expensive hot dog place. Even more insulting I work literally less than one minute WALK away from this place. Ffs... I'm going to need a cardiologist on speed dial but honestly in this economy dying young seems like a blessing.

Anyways... haven't had a bite of the chicken sandwich yet. I'm sure it tastes like a holy redemption so I want to save it for later. Had to pause to write a review which I admittedly rarely ever do.... bravo guys. My inner fat girl is supremely happy and is embarrassed to realize I will probably learn all of yalls names because I will be there so often. Please...

I never thought that I’d live to see the Cubs win the World Series. Or see a Portillo’s open in Grapevine. And incredibly, I’ve now seen both.

My wife and I were two of the first people to walk in the doors for yesterday’s soft opening in Grapevine. We were not disappointed. I should point out that I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, and I’ve been eating Chicago-style Italian Beef, hotdogs, etc. for the past 50 years, including of course at Chicagoland Portillo’s locations. So I understand how major-league Italian Beef should taste. And I’m happy to say that the team at the new Grapevine location nailed it.

I ordered the Italian Beef, dipped of course, and with hot peppers. It was cooked right, dipped right, topped right, and most importantly, it tasted perfect. We also ordered fries with their excellent cheese dip. And of course a slice of chocolate cake. Everything across the board was excellent, and legit. Five stars all the way.

We’ve frequented the location at The Colony countless times since it opened almost two years ago (I favorably reviewed that location as well). But how incredible it is to have a Portillo’s right where we live in Grapevine. We will dine there often. Thank...
