The Victorian home is stunning and feels very cozy and the front of house staff is friendly and great at their job. The service really shines, but the food is lacking. I think this place has potential and I wanted to provide some constructive criticism and feedback.
First, the bread tastes like the premade garlic loaves from the grocery store that are then set under the heaters until they are needed.
For my main entree, I ordered the cannelloni salmon, but unfortunately, the salmon itself was overcooked and tasted like it had been premade and then microwaved rather than made fresh. The salmon is very low quality, I would guess a frozen Atlantic salmon which is incredibly disappointing. The sauce accompanying the dish was quite bland and lacked any depth of flavor, and the large, uneven chunks of grilled, oily, unseasoned vegetables felt clumsy and overwhelmed the plate rather than complementing the main item.
The setting, while architecturally beautiful, didn’t quite live up to its potential. The curtains and furnishings felt mismatched and low quality Amazon finds that diminish the atmosphere, plus paper table covers are never a good call. The seating was particularly uncomfortable, making it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the meal.
Dessert was unfortunately a low point. The cheesecake was the worst cheesecake I've ever had. The texture was simultaneously watery, dry, split and curdled, suggesting serious flaws in preparation. I would scrap the recipe entirely and ensure you are not over beating your eggs, ensure your ingredients are the same temperature going in, and add a water pan to the bottom rack when baking. It might be worth buying the cheesecake wholesale from local bakeries.
This restaurant has great potential given its setting and service team, but it needs serious attention to food quality, presentation, and ambiance in order to justify its price point and deliver the experience the location deserves.
One small detail is when I ordered wine, the server poured it in the back without presenting the bottle. For a higher end experience, presenting and pouring from the bottle is an important touch that was noticeably missing. I personally have allergies and look up the wine before ordering so this was concerning for me.
I hope this helps, and I plan on coming back in the next 3-5 months to reassess and...
Read moreThis review comes with a totally objective review and how microwave Cisco food was served. We spent $82.00 dollars on MICROWAVE FOOD. We made a reservation and were accommodated. We ordered the special of the day and gnocchi. the bread that was served was just ordinary. When there are so many local bread companies that could provide higher quality product.
The first sign of a restaurant having issues was the lengthy out dated menu with pages of choices. To carry that amount of food and not have spoilage it beyond me.. Even the dessert menus is all coming in on a food truck from some where else. The kitchen is way too small to handle over 50 tables. Second alert, our food came out way too fast and this was another red flag that the food was not cooked to order but using a microwave. The presentation of the dish was disgusting. The Pork Scaloppini was scraps of pork, sliced very thin and curled up on the ends. this was not fresh pork Scaloppine but what ever scraps left over from some other dish. Very nasty and covered in an enormous amount of white gravy. The plate of food came with mash potatoes and grilled vegetables which were not grilled, and canned artichokes. What a complete mis match of food stuck in a microwave and heated. The mash potatoes were so hot they could taken the hair off your skin. The Gnocchi must come-in frozen and then either microwaved or boiled beyond recognition. When you took a bite of the Gnocchi they were so hard they could have of thought they were bullets, and the same white nasty gravy with a pile of total crap! Nothing in the special or the regular items was FRESH. There was a couple at the restaurant in the next room who the woman was having a conversation so loud and extremely angry and profanities evidently was extremely upset. We asked the wait staff if he could ask her to lower the voices so we could enjoy our time, and the wait staff said she was a paying customer and no they could not do that. If you want to eat MICROWAVE FOOD THIS THE...
Read moreI wish I could review the food or atmosphere of Alloro. We had a reservation made weeks in advance for Mother's Day with a specific table selected for my mother, who is handicapped.
Unfortunately, somebody identifying himself as the manager called my mom at 9:15 pm on a Sunday to ask her to move her reservation because another customer wanted that table. When my mom asked some questions to try to understand why she would be asked to change a reservation made well in advance for another customer, the manager got short with her and said he would call another day.
Needless to say, we cancelled our reservation and will be celebrating Mother's Day elsewhere. Given the good reviews, I can only assume Alloro has changed ownership or management to somebody who is unfamiliar with standard restaurant customer service and does not observe the usual courtesy of not calling late at night.
Update - 20250620: Alloro Management - Thank you for your reply to my review. I shared your response with mom and we appreciate your clarification and offer to have us try again. My mom said she is willing to forgive the experience we had but she wanted to clarify that she had a doctor's appointment on the afternoon when you said you would call her back to follow up. Not wanting to inconvenience you, she called the morning of that same day around 10am and left a message with the person who answered the phone to confirm that we had made other plans and would not be keeping the reservation. She did mention receiving a message from somebody when she returned from the doctor's appointment and her assumption that there had been a miscommunication on your end since you had called after she already confirmed the cancelation of her reservation. I'm sorry to hear that her message didn't make it to your reservation book but I'm pleased to hear somebody benefited from the opening and you didn't lose out on seating that table and the associated...
