Only tried the calamari. It was very bland. It came with 2 sauces, an aioli and cocktail. Both also very bland. Is salt/seasoning not available in their kitchen?
The advertised Happy hour was only available at the bar even though the place was empty on a Friday Night Happy Hour at 4pm. Very disappointing. I would totally understand it if the place was packed. Instead we sat at the empty bar and stared at empty tables for over an hour. Happy hour special was $1 off well drinks. Also disappointing as we do not drink hard liquor so we skipped that for beer and wine. 1/2 off some appetizers was appreciated as we were not impressed with the calamari.
The restaurant itself is nice with a great atmosphere and we may have come back to try again. A kitchen can have an off night. However, did not appreciate an automatic 20% gratuity that was practically hidden with the itemized charges near the tax. Could easily be missed and no word about it from the bartender who basically ignored us (but gave OK service). I already believe in tipping well as a former server. This with the bland food, bland service and frankly empty & SAD “Happy Hour” just left a bad taste in our mouths. Doubt if we...
Read moreWe are relatively new to the area and recently tried this place for the first time and we were not disappointed! My son who is only 2 requires a booth and I called ahead to make sure they had one. The host was very nice and said he would save one for us and when we arrived we were promptly greeted and seated. Our waiter was Kent and he was absolutely fanatic and on point, which I find rare these days. He was right in the middle of serving a giant party, but made sure to come over and greet us and let us know he’d be right back to take our drink order. He was very friendly and helped find some things on the menu my son might enjoy, as I thought they had hamburgers (about all my son will eat currently) but I was mistaken. The atmosphere was pleasant and the workers smiled and seemed happy to be there. The food was excellent and though pricey, I don’t think it was overpriced. Foods expensive these days after all! Everything was perfectly cooked and the drinks were delicious too! I would definitely recommend this place and we will...
Read moreI was really excited to try this place because it seemed like a great addition to Grass Valley. I will start off by saying the waitress was really great and the ambiance was relaxing. The reason I’m giving it two stars was because of the food, drinks and their pricing is not to match the GV area… We got an appetizer that was some sort of watered down queso. We also ordered 2 signature cocktails - one from their fall menu. I am not exaggerating that it tasted like ethanol fluid. (Haven’t actually tried ethanol but that’s what I’m guessing it tasted like). I’m not one to send it back but I had to. I replaced it with a Moscow mule cause I figured you really can’t mess that one up. Wrong. My husband ordered an old fashion which tasting like sugar cherry water. We even stayed for dinner which I ordered the Thai flatbread but came out as pepperoni. No big deal. Well, it was also as good as the queso. I really hope this place straightens the kinks out because it could be great. I’ll give it another try and if it’s any better I’ll...
