This is my second review a year later now. The review below was from 2023. I just picked up a few CousinJack (Beef pasty’s) on Friday, August 9 2024. We had them for dinner tonight. Something has changed from last year. Every single piece of meat in this pasty was rubbery and chewy. I’m not sure if you changed meat vendors or what? the rest of the pasty was fine the meat was, terrible. So for the $16 that I paid for each one of these, this was not worth the price this time. I know you guys use skirt steak, but somethings changed so you guys need to check into that please!
This was my first visit here from Orange County. I couldn’t wait to get back today to my brothers house to taste this Pasty. I ate the entire thing. The meat and fresh ingredients in them were delicious. I tried another local Pasty restaurant but was not impressed, theirs had more dough than anything. I believe they use lard as well but the Grass Valley Pasty restaurant does not use lard. Definitely get more bang for your buck on this Pasty. I will spread the word on this restaurant. Ordered a veggie and two customized cheese and onion pasties. All three were very delish. The pasties had a lot of body to them and were well filled. Customer service was also extremely nice and welcoming. Although initially the prices seemed a little high, the portion sizes are huge and I couldn't finish mine in one serving. I'd definitely come back to this place and recommend to others.

Read moreThis place is great! This was actually my second visit to this place, originally I stopped by about 2-3 years ago, and it was amazing then also. I got the cousin Jack, and it was amazing. My friends the the pork one, and they loved it. This is only place I’ve ever had a pasty at, and it has certainly set the bar high. The bread on the pasty is so flaky and crispy. You can see the bakers making everything right behind the counter. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I am certainly coming back.
