A first visit. It was a great atmosphere, lots of space and seating options, TVs all around to catch any of the games, people cheering for the Lions, clean. The hostess was moving quickly, cleaning tables and ensuring that the few people who were waiting for seated fairly quickly. Our waitress was friendly, and busy. So busy that we didn't see her again for some time. This usually wouldn't have mattered except that we hadn't realized we were without napkins/silverware when our plates were brought out. Husband enjoyed a pastrami sandwich. Careful as he was, it still necessitated a napkin and he sat for some time with drippy hands. Our waitress did eventually circle back, and instead of handing over one of the napkin wrapped silverware sets in her hand, she left and came back a few moments later with two napkins. I ordered the mac and cheese, as usually I tolerate the noodles and cheese even with my allergies and diet restrictions. I asked for none of the garlic bread; garlic can trigger an allergy response. It arrived with the seasoned side of the bread placed on top of the noodles. I tried to eat from the other side but still ended up with a minor reaction. I'm not sure if it was from that or from the other seasoning that was found throughout the dish. I had hoped to ask what was in there just so I knew for myself moving forward, but by the time she got back around to give us the bill, we were ready to leave. Overall it was a great environment, the menu had lots of options and the food looked amazing and fresh. The rating reflects the frustration of not leaving an item off when asked (I guess I should have mentioned allergen and they may have been more likely to follow through), or having access to ask somebody what was in the dish specifically, after waiting so long to just get a napkin.

My wife and I came for lunch on a Tuesday. There was no host up front, and we had to wait about 7 minutes to be acknowledged and seated. I ordered the fish and chips, my wife the cob salad with potato skins as an appetizer. We planned to split the meals. The wait to get our food from the kitchen was just too long. At one point, our waitress, Alissa, stopped by to apologize. Finally we got our food. I read a previous review highlighting how good the fish and chips were here. I must have come on a bad day. The fish was falling apart and slimy. I am told that is a sign of frying oil not hot enough or too old. Or the frying was rushed since our food was late. I am not sure, but we did not enjoy it. The salad and potato skins were pretty good. Alissa's service was good. I may come back again to try the fish and chips again. Hopefully, that will be a better fish day. UPDATE: I came back about a month later. Was sat immediately. I ordered fish and chips. It took over 20 minutes to get my food, but I admit it was a busy football day. The fish was cooked perfectly, just like in the pictures. Also, i found out the fries can be ordered without seasoning. I prefer them that way, and they were tasty. 😋 service was attentive. I updated my rating to 4 stars.

If you like basic gray decor mixed with an overload of tv screens then you'll love this place. I counted over 25 tv screens all around the perimeter and over our heads and one really big one behind the bar that reminded me of a movie theater. Only this one was bisected with lines from the individual tv screens. This kind of place caters strictly to the sports person. It's a niche place. It does say Sports Bar right over the outside door so what was I expecting? Probably a bit more variety and interest. I've been to cozy Sports Bars. This place isn't cozy. It's in-your-face sports tvs on steroids. I saw that Novi is also getting a Joe Kool's in the old Fridays TGIF building and I thought I'd check it out in Brighton first. Our waitress said the Novi one will be more family orientated and less 'sports food' (which to me means greasy fried stuff with lots of cheese.) Maybe I'll peek in first when it opens because an evening here wasn't delightful to me and I was missing 60 minutes which was playing on ONLY one television with no sound or even closed captioning. Also, the ladies room wasn't clean and the hands free kick plate door opener on the bottom of the ladies room door didn't work. Not Kool.

Nestled in the heart of Brighton, Joe Kools stands out as a beacon of culinary excellence, earning its well-deserved five-star rating with every delectable dish served. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth along with a killer selection of sports to watch around the restaurant, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Let's dive into the highlight reel of our culinary adventure, starting with the star of the show: the Buffalo Mac 'n Cheese. Picture a symphony of flavors dancing on your palate - the creamy richness of the mac 'n cheese perfectly complemented by the bold kick of buffalo sauce, creating a harmonious blend that tantalizes the taste buds with every forkful. Next up, the Chicken Tenders. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, these golden strips of perfection redefine comfort food. Each bite was a nostalgic journey back to childhood, elevated to gourmet heights by the chef's meticulous attention to detail. The Chicken Alfredo deserves its own standing ovation. Velvety strands of pasta enrobed in a velvety Alfredo sauce, kissed with the essence of Parmesan and crowned with succulent pieces of chicken - it's a dish that exudes elegance in every bite. And then there's the Steak with a side of Zip Sauce, a carnivore's dream come true. Cooked to absolute perfection, each mouthwatering slice of steak boasted a glorious char on the outside while remaining gloriously tender and juicy within. Paired with the tangy zip sauce, it was a match made in culinary heaven. Let's not forget about those crispy fries - a humble side dish elevated to greatness. Each bite delivered a satisfying crunch, a testament to the chef's dedication to perfection in every aspect of the meal. But what truly sets Joe Kools of Brighton apart is its impeccable service, personified by our server, Caleb. With a smile as radiant as the culinary creations he serves, Caleb effortlessly guided us through the menu with his expert recommendations and infectious enthusiasm. Not only was he attentive to our every need, but his witty banter and charming personality added an extra layer of delight to our dining experience. Joe Kools is more than just a place to dine - it's a culinary journey that delights the senses and leaves a lasting impression. With exceptional food, impeccable service, and a dash of Caleb's charisma, it's no wonder this establishment has earned its rightful place...

We wanted to try this place for a while. We were sat immediately which was nice, but after 15 minutes of no one even acknowledging us at the table we had to get the hostess’ attention to get a waitress. Our waitress was nice however we noticed she was the same waitress to walk past our table and fail to even acknowledge us several times after we were sat down. Unfortunately we didn’t even get an apology. There was live music that was extremely loud. We were seated pretty far from it but it was still so loud we couldn’t have conversations or have our order taken without having to shout. Cherry coke tasted really strange, but they said it wasn’t made with grenadine. My wife’s Dr Pepper tasted like root beer. Food was OK. Really pricey but portions were large. Quality and taste was lacking unfortunately. We are unlikely to return. We wanted to try this place for a while.
