I have been in Greensboro one week for work. I went to this location of American Deli - along with a friend who was going to be trying it for the first time after I told him how much I like the wings - Sunday, April 2 at 4:15pm. When I walked in, a lady working the register immediately said, “We’re closed.” No hello or explanation given whatsoever. I told her the website said they close at 10pm, because I checked before going. She said they were closing so they could take a break. There were about 6 employees present behind the counter at that time. I asked if they all were going on break at the same time, and she replied, “yes.” Then I asked how long they were going to be closed. She said, “about an hour.” I asked if they could take our order quickly, and she, again, replied, “no.” Again, no apology for the inconvenience or anything. I told her I’d NEVER heard of such a thing. Mind you, there were about 5 customers in the store at the time of this exchange. I’m assuming they were waiting for their food to get done, but who knows.
This was very unprofessional and unacceptable. What sensible person closes an entire restaurant for one hour in the middle of the day? Moreover, why would you close like that without having a sign or something on your website informing potential customers about that practice - however foolish it may be?
I give the lowest possible recommendation. And from some of the other comments I’ve read, this seems to be par for the course at this establishment. And to be more specific, the cashier was the Black woman with the locs. It would behoove you to get someone else to work the register; perhaps she should be in the back cooking where she does not interact with customers. Then again, this is a restaurant that does not have any instructions or links on their website for customers wanting to leave feedback, so it tracks that the business is poorly run. Read moreI recently had an unfortunate experience at the American Deli located on Summit Ave in Greensboro, involving a cook named David, which has left me quite disappointed. On a previous visit, I purchased a large fry but had to leave before receiving it, as I had to return to work. I returned the next day, expecting to simply collect my fries. To my surprise, David insisted that I had to pay for the fries again.
Not only was his demeanor unprofessional, but he also attempted to intimidate me during this encounter. Despite my polite approach to resolving the issue, I was left feeling frustrated and robbed. Shockingly, I was informed by other patrons that this behavior is not uncommon for David, and there were concerning allegations of other inappropriate activities occurring at this location.
The lack of accountability in handling such customer service issues is troubling, and I urge the ownership to re-evaluate the conduct of their staff. As a loyal customer, I expected better treatment, and until these issues are addressed, I’m hesitant to return.
Overall, this experience was disheartening, and I would advise future patrons to be cautious when dealing with certain staff members at this location. I'm hoping management takes these claims seriously and enforces a more customer-friendly approach...

So as my friend waited for one combo meal of wings and fries and a drink that tasted horrible. The wings were rubbery and tasted sweet instead of like buffalo flavor . So on the second day which was February 11th, 2024 this time my friend ordered a cheeseburger with all the fixings and another order of buffalo wings but run through 2x. As my friend was waiting around he noticed more and more custumers were coming in and complaining about there food and orders. Once he left he asked for ranch, to which they ran out off, once back to the house my friend has mentioned Between, the bad atmosphere, bad service and bad food tasting he decided not to go back again.
