EDIT: I just now stumbled upon this old review that I posted around 11 months ago, and read the response of the Management or Owner of the business. I think the reply from the Management was pretty rude, and I would like to add a public note that is directed at the person (Management) who wrote the reply to me. I have no way to provide proof of this, but your baristas lied to you about the situations that I had at your coffee shop. It is completely untrue that I finished my complete cut of chair before bringing it back up to tell them that I was unhappy with it. I might have taken maybe 2 drinks of it before I brought it back up there. The fact is (which is just my opinion) that your employees were very rude to me, and did not treat me with any respect. Other then the 1st time I visited your coffee shop, my experience with the taste of the chair was very disappointing, and it is clear to me that the baristas that talked to you about me are liars. Have you ever heard the saying "The customer is always right"? Well it seems to me that most businesses do not care enough about their customers satisfaction, and it is so bad that if a customer is unhappy, then they do not bring it up to the management, they just never return to the business again. If a customer tells you that they are unhappy, then you should be apologetic, and either make it right, or refund their money. Do not tell the customer that they are wrong, and that they always make the CHai the same exact way every time, which in my case, is completely untrue. If you think that I would actually drink an entire cup of a chai that I am very unsatisfied with, then you are wrong. Do not judge those who you do not know, and do not make judgments if you do not know the facts (other then what you heard from your employees).
Green Joe's really needs to learn how to make an iced chai (a good tasting iced chai). Everytime I go there to order one, it is either way too strong (sweet), or it is almost like drinking a cup of milk (with no chai flavor). I was really unhappy today with my Chai, and instead of being nice, and saying sorry that I did not like it, the girl insisted that they use the same exact recipe every time (in that case, it would always taste the same every time, which it does not). The recipe should be perfect, but it is not, and they never make it the same way (either use way too much Chai powder, or not nearly enough). Well, I am not wasting any more money on this place (whose workers are snoody / stuck up, and think the customer is wrong when telling them that something was not made right). They need to learn to not be so stuck up, and learn that the Customer is always right. And they really need to learn how to make a good Iced Chai (it will not be made right if you do not learn the correct way to make it, and take your time when making it). An Iced Chai takes a little bit of time to be made good and right, and can't be made really good if in a hurry. I will be taking my business to Urban Grinders (at Revolution Mill...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been an off/on customer of Green Joe's for many years now. Prior to the pandemic, I lived abroad, and would always make an effort to come in when I was home. Now that I'm back, it's my workspace away from home as a freelancer.
The environment is great for work. There is a lot of space, many seating options (bar, small tables, large tables for groups, a lounge area, outdoor seating), and it's not hard to find a spot. The WiFi is great most of the time. The music is up my alley and also not too loud if you'd rather tune it out.
The baristas are always very friendly and willing to chat if you're up for it. Even when they're incredibly busy and dealing with perhaps not so patient customers, they have a great attitude.
The coffee is usually great, certainly better than Starbucks and probably the best option on all of Battleground. However, I find the quality to be inconsistent sometimes. One day you'll have an excellent latte with all the lovely robust notes of the espresso coming through. Some days it tastes almost weak, like there isn't enough espresso or there is too much syrup. I've noticed new faces behind the counter pretty frequently over the last months, so I don't know if they are having a turnover issue that causes this inconsistency or what.
At any rate, I would say the coffee is great 80% of the time, which means I will keep showing up as long as I'm on this side of Greensboro. I'm only pointing this out because years back the quality was on par or above some downtown options, and now it feels that's slipping a bit, which I really don't want to happen as this is my regular spot. This slight bit of criticism comes from a place of love!
EDIT: They earned their star back. Coffee has been consistently great in recent months, and it seems like the only place in town that can make a macchiato Euro-style. Excellent cortado as well. I've enjoyed getting to know the staff better - they are a friendly bunch that will make you feel welcome!
Shoutout to Jen, Drew, and Claire who never fail to make the perfect drink and are always a pleasure...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've visited more than 3 times at Green Joe's a few by myself & once with my girlfriend & a trip was made with my gf and my mom. The 1st visit was okay, but any visit after that by myself I noticed that when I were to walk in (I was the only customer that came through the door at the time in most instances) I never was once greeted, when ordering and asking for suggestions I was looked at as if I was speaking a foreign language. What I did notice is when someone of a different race stepped in (caucasian to be exact.) right after me they would be greeted and the associate at the cashier or even the baristas around would speak to the next person. I'm african-american and No I'm not pulling the "race card". My girlfriend is Caucasian, and during our visit they still didn't greet us, I visited with my mom and my girlfriend on another occasion and again we weren't greeted or spoken to during our entrance. Again if anyone else that were Caucasian showed up they were always greeted with a smile and a hey! There were 3 ppl working every time I've been in there. Long story short I finally mentioned it to my girlfriend about these visits & how they have been making me feel and she said she didn't notice so... we went back once more and she realized exactly what i was talking about after observing... I technically felt as if I didn't belong there and anytime I showed up it was a look of what are you doing here? That may sound extreme but the vibes I got from this place during the visits just confirmed it, because at first I was in denial.. I haven't been back to Green Joe's in almost a month or 2. No one should have to feel that way walking in a store, business is business and a customer is a customer who should always be greeted no matter...
