New York Pizza Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Greensboro

My complaint is not with the food but with one person. I have been to this restaurant to eat many times and I don’t think the food is bad. I went in the other day and was going to order food and take it home. For the first time I sat at the bar and there is a girl who always works there with long hair and long nails, which I think is unhygienic in food service. But that isn’t my main complaint. This girl took my order and took my money. She never gave me my change so when a male brought my food I asked him for my change. I heard him tell her and I heard her say “ she wanted her change? It was only 2 cent, she doesn’t need that”. She eventually brought me my 2 cents but it is not up to the wait staff to determine if I get my change. I have encountered this a few times with other wait staff and if I don’t tell you to keep the change then yes I want it back, no matter how small. Management needs to tell their staff that it is not up to them to determine if customers get their change or not. I also did not like her attitude when the male waiter brought it up to her. BURNED! BURNED! BURNED PIZZA! I placed a take out order last night at New York Pizza on Battleground and got the worst surprise when I got home and that was a pizza that was burned on the bottom.(SEE ATTACHED PICTURES) I contacted the establishment and I was told by an employee that I could pick up another pizza today. On my way home, I called to inform the restaurant that I would like to pick it up today which is less than 24hrs from when I contacted them about the pizza that is unfit to eat. My dog did not even want it! The manager yelled at me and said you should have called sooner. We will not replace the burned pizza. It is your loss. This made me extremely upset because I have been eating at this location for years. This is the worst customer service I have ever received in my life. We are going through a pandemic and most people do take out orders and expect good food and good service. This is not the case with this restaurant, I will never eat at again and would not recommend it to anyone. DON’T EAT HERE! YOU WILL BE THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY! YOU WILL RECEIVE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BURNED FOOD!

So, I have given myself several months to simmer down before I posted this review. I used to go to the NYP on Tate St religiously back in the day. They made the absolute best pesto pizza in the world. My family has tried the NYP on Battleground only a few times if we happen to be in the area. We noticed it has a “groupie” feel, meaning if you’re not a regular they don’t pay much attention to you. I had a serious craving for a NYP pesto pizza one week, so I ordered one over the phone to pick up after work. First off the guy on the phone was condescending to me when I asked him a question and gave him my order. So, I pick up the pizza take it home and then we start eating and realize this pizza had what we are assuming basil stems all over it. Never in my life have I had a pesto pizza that is covered in stems. I’m talking about thick stalks that can’t be chewed up, y’all. And tons of them- not a few- that we had to pick off before we could even eat it. I wish I took a pic for evidence.
